  5. Pretty much on your own there. I have 2 different manuals, plus some pics i found across the internet, and the sticker in the engine bay, and mines still not right. I'll see what pics i can find though. Your best bet is to go get a haynes or a chilton manual, and take pics of what your not sure of. If you kept all the old stuff, that will help since they should be mostly formed in the right bends to at least guess where it all goes Feeling lazy, but here's a link to my photobucket library. some of the pics may help you, any questions feel free to ask. if you need one i can take a pic of the engine bay vacuum routing sticker too thanks, i have the engine bay sticker but i can't understand the thing and my father can't read it, i'll look through the haynes manual more, i can't even find a chilton manual around my area, and i'll deffently check out your photobucket, thanks again, Redwolf
  6. gotta problem yall, between me and my dad we can't figure out all the vacum lines, i was gonna take pictures of the vacum lines but my mother and brother decided to take it all off before i had a chance, wires we can figure out for the most part but if yall could post pictures of the vacum lines and wires that'd be great Redwolf
  7. i'll keep that in mine, lookin at the tube off i think i might have seen one at the junkyard Redwolf
  8. the air cleaner tube i can't find anywhere, it goes from circle to the square shape in the second picture Redwolf
  9. Can you take a pic and show which hose your talking about? i got the pictures i just gotta upload em, i'll try tonight, Redwolf
  10. i have now looked under everything that had a 2.8 and i can't find a single one that would have my air cleaner intake hose and other ideas because my looks like a cat got inside it and used it for a scratchin post, Redwolf
  11. s10 pickup or blazer? i know i can get a lot off of a pickup with a 2.8 but what bout the s10 blazer? Redwolf
  12. yeah, i'm thinkin bout gettin the uni one and just strappin it really good to the square end but the old owner used duct work tape for like a ac duct, Redwolf

  14. where can i buy an air cleaner intake hose, i've tried every part store around here and i've even tried rock auto but i can't find one that'll fit my MJ, i know the hose goes from circle to square or square to circle (can't remember which) but i can't find one anywhere just circle to circle, i've even checked junkyards, anyone know where i can get one from? Redwolf
  15. i'm installin my engine this weekend so i'm lookin for everything i need to make it pass inspection, i have no air cleaner intake hose, i can find em at advance, autozone, napa, etc but i can't find one that goes from round to square, anyone know where to get one, i've even checked the dealer and the junkyard Redwolf
  16. doesn't it also depend on how ya tune your carb? Redwolf
  17. the buick 3800 is not a bolt-on to the transmission nor the motor mounts, and the ax5, ax4, and auto trans cannot take the power. it's a 60 degree mounting pattern on the bell housing, but you have to notch and move the starter hump in order to ensure that you can mount the starter. I would NOT swap a 2.8 for a 2.8. And I sure as hell wouldn't leave the carb....even if you go TBI injection from an 80s s10 with a 2.8, you gain a TON. and it's only a 5 wire system if you just lay over the engine harness to make it run. the biggest issue with the 2.8 IS THE CARB and also the EMISSIONS HOSES. get rid of those, you improve it alot. put a 3.4 in it, out of an early 90's camaro or firebird, with the fuel injection off of it, and get similar power to the 4.0 little late for that, a 2.8 was all i could find that'd fit in my MJ, i'm keepin the carb cause i already have all the parts for it and brand new emissions tubes and check valves Redwolf well, i hope that you don't plan on using 5th gear, or getting better than 14mpg. i don't, i'll be lucky to get into 4th around where i live Redwolf

  19. if it's the same manual for the 86 (i don't know how jeep did owners manuals back then) can ya scan the whole book and email it to me? Redwolf
  20. we're talkin bout the auto trans style nuetral safety switch whitch if ya can start in any other gear than park or nuetral ya fail, every inspector says it has one and they all say i have a clutch safety switch as well but nothin in my haynes manual says that for the manual trans nor can i find anything on my MJ that even resembles one of the two, who would be higher on the inspection chain than the state police inspection office? Redwolf
  21. neither do the state troopers cause my father emailed em and they said it'll fail, so now i'm tryin to get an owners manual for my 86 MJ without buyin it from ebay, Redwolf
  22. that's what everyone says but the state inspectors so i'm a little lost, Redwolf
  23. i read more into my haynes manual and found out that the neutral safety switch was built into the backup light switch for automatic transmissions, i know jeep didn't start usin clutch safety switches till 1997 but is it alway neutral safety switch that they started usin in 97 as well? Redwolf
  24. ok, to the average state inspector if they see the back up light switch would they think it's the neutral safety switch as well? Redwolf
  25. i went down to my family's normal state inspector and he told be where the neutral safety switch would be but when i look under my MJ where it says on the LH side of the transfer case i see the backup light switch, the haynes manual is saying they where built as one, could that be true for manual trans or just automatics? Redwolf
