so i did manage to get the MJ to work today and brought it into a bay and found out the damage, i need upper and lower radiator hoses, the hoses that run from the water pump to the firewall, coolant tank, and radiator (i'm gonna just replace the cap to cause i'm that far), upper radiator hose doesn't seem split or anything but since i got a busted radiator (several small leaks), and i gotta replace the lower radiator house (due to all the ice sickles on it, i'm assuming it's busted somehow), i might as well replace all my hoses; and when i first dropped a new engine in it i never replaced my hoses from the water pump to the firewall. it might be time for them, i also had ice around there. the coolant tank pours out the bottom which i'm sure it's not supposed to. i was supposed to do my brakes next payday, but i still got life, cooling system seems a little more important right now since my truck still stops on a dime, Redwolf -

does the block heater go in place of the freeze plug cause i can see that benifiting me in the cold, Redwolf Yes thank you, i've never heard of a heater block untill yesterday, don't know anything bout em except they heat my engine block, and the mixture ratio is what i figured when i added it all, didn't make since to me when i found out i had a frozen coolant system. and i ran the truck untill operating temp at work and checked it over i had it in my system for a few months prior to yesterday i never buy 50 50 stuff, i watched my buddy make that mistake when i was visiting in PA in winter, Redwolf -

alright, i was not running straight water in my engine, i am smarter than that, however i only had bought one gallon of antifreeze when i swapped my last engine in and it took about 1.5 gallons of water to fill it. finally got my hoses thawed yesterday thanks to my dad's heat lamps from the navy and started it, all was fine, no leaks, no weird sounds, no lights (not that i have many) and no performance issues. went to go drive it to work and i got a mile down and i get an oil light (which is my temp light, sensors are switched) i didn't remember it was the temp light so i kept goin but detoured to the auto part store; next thing i know i'm hearing a loud gargling sound so i pull over in the malls parking lot only to see a puddle under my truck, open the hood and stem bellows out but only from where the antifreeze (overflow) tank is, but i have my antifreeze all over my engine, i open the radiator cap (after it all cools down) and stem bellows out of that, i open it the rest of the way once the stem stopped and the cap shot off; nothing but stem. filled it up with 1.5 gallons of antifreeze and a half gallon of water and drove it home just fine, has me a little worried though, Redwolf -
alright folks, i might be doin another engine swap thanks to 17degree weather. woke up to go move my truck to scrap some metal and the truck wouldn't start but i saw smoke, came to find my belts were being burnt and i found ice under my radiator cap, ice sickles on my lower rad hose and the upper rad hose is solid. as of now, there's no 2.8s or 3.4s in my local junkyard, Redwolf

i agree with ya there, althought the JKs aint bad wranglers but the idea they have for the 2016 wrangler is horrible in my opinion, indepented suspention all the way around, might be better for rock crawling though, who knows, Redwolf JK's aren't bad, but they're not really Jeeps, if you ask me, at least not the 4 door ones. They're bloated, heavy, underpowered things that were built to fill the niche that that H2/H3 left when it died. I've yet to drive a stripper model 4 banger, but all of the high optioned v6 4 doors I've driven have been pretty bland. Nothing special in those things, and definitely no "jeep flavor" to them. i've drove the 2dr JKs with the 3.8 6speed and it aint that bad, but i do agree the 4dr JKs did kinda pick up what the hummers left when they died out, but even the 4drs aint that bad, only way i'd get a 4dr JK is if i get a family, Redwolf

thanks for the answear pete :) but they don't look rotateable but that's just me :dunno: my major question for em is, are they switched differently, only spot, only flood, both on, that kinda thing, that'd be awesome, all i know is i'm atleast gonna get LEDs for my roll bar, gotta talk to a cop about running spot LEDs for driving lights, Redwolf -

Aren't you in Virginia? And isn't Virginia the only state besides Connecticut that does NOT allow forward-facing lights above the OEM headlights? Back when the first generation of Liberty came out, there was a model with a set of four OEM lights on the roof. The requirement in Connecticut was (and is) that those lights must be covered when the vehicle is on a public road. My understanding was that that model wasn't even sold in Virginia because the roof-level lights weren't allowed. yes that's the law in Virginia, but again, the law enforcement doesn't bother anyone even if their lights are uncovered, however a state inspecter WILL fail you for having them uncovered. And yes i am using driving lights as fog lights, virginia beach doesn't get much fog, although we got thick fog last night and i was able to cut through it with my driving lights (and yes i've had the amber fog lights and the white driving lights used as fog lights, i see no difference honestly). But anyhow how to the question bout the light bar, how would it be beneficial to have spot lights in the middle and floods on the ends? kinda not understanding the combo, i know spots more direct and flood is wider but that's all i'm understanding, Redwolf -

sorry i had that backwards, the led light bar has spot lights in the middle and flood on the ends, but my same question is still there, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F4MQJ5O/ref=s9_simh_gw_p263_d0_i4?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=0SQS9TFBGTZ4WM3FZZRK&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970566542&pf_rd_i=desktop#productDetails Redwolf -

trust me eagle i know the difference between driving and fog lights, we all got in an arguement bout it a while back, but all the law enforcers and state inspecters in va are too stupid to know, which makes it great. Now what i have on my bumper right now is driving lights that act as fogs (don't' ask i don't know but they cut like fogs) since spot LEDs are more light driving likes and flood are more wider and not good for on-coming traffic, (this idea is just based on the info gathered so far) would if be a good idea to replace my driving lights on my bumper with spot lights and replace the ones on my roll bar with flood lights? Now i do have a question about a light bar i came across last night, it's got spot lights and flood lights build in, spots are on the ends and flood is in the center, how would that benifet anyone? anyone flash their high beams at ya when ya drive with em on? Redwolf Most of my driving is on country roads so I shut them off like I would high beams when another vehicle is approaching. I don't use them on the main roads and I never used my high beams on them either. They light up the road like I flipped on a light switch in a dark room so I imagine it would suck for an oncoming car if I had them on. yeah i'd imagine so, deffently work lookin into, i have found the LEDs are the way to go. Now these are 2x4, is there any 5" long and like 2" high? Redwolf -

It was quoted in the newest JP from the CEO that there will be solid axles, no unit body or aluminum construction and also Wrangler production will not leave Toledo. either way, i've learned not to listen to the rumors untill the actual vehicle is on a dealer lot and i can look at it, Redwolf

sweet! i wanna clock there, but would deffently make a great spot for switchin if i can fab somethin up for it, Redwolf -
so with it gettin cold i'm starting to work on the inside of my MJ and i thought i might start with the mini console, i had never had mine inside the jeep due to breaking the plastic clip on the first one when i shift into 5th gear; also it just looks weird with no carpet. I'm lookin at making my own but need some ideas for cup holders, rocker switch panels and of course, different styles, lets see what ya got or how ya provent the plastic clip from breaking upon shifting into 5th gear, Redwolf

that's what i've been told but i'm tryin to stick if square (or rectangle) as long as i can simply because i got square headlights, to me round lights with square headlights just look weird, but i gotta agree they do put out a ton of light for how cheap they cost clock panel? i have a radio if that's what you're referring too and i could use the ash tray spot, rip it out, make one that's for switches and still folds down (it holds my phone for when i play pandora) Redwolf -

that's great to know thanks and i have one of the panels just gotta find another so i can stop cuttin holes in my dash panel for switches but i already got 3 of the 4 spots taken, i'm lookin at different switch locations if possible, only so much can be in on location, Redwolf -
so i want to swap out my fog lights for some LEDs for 2 reasons, 1. they're brighter 2. my fog lights are gettin dimmer and dimmer and all my wiring is still good among lookin at LED lights i came across flood and spot LED lights, i was wondering what's the difference, what will be good mounted where, i know i wanna replace my fog lights (driving lights) with the same length (5inches) and i'm thinkin about 2 LED pods (or the same lights that replace my driving lights) and a LED light bar that fits between the two lights on the roll bar. But i'm tryin to do a little research before i go crazy lookin at every different light, again the questions are 1. what's the difference between spot and flood LED lights 2. which style LED will be best mounted where 3. anyone got ideas for a rocker switch panel :rotf: Redwolf
