  1. my dad has a 20,000lb rated strap from harbor frieght and he hasn't had a problem with it yet, he's towed hummers outta ditches, recovered himself outta mud up to his runnin board but he used the farm jack and strap so no snap pullin there, but it works great for him on his little TJ, Redwolf
  2. i even tried that idea, nothin actted up but the radio and only on FM stations, Redwolf
  3. i might have read that one, was it the crackly speakers drivin me nuts? Redwolf
  4. it was not the antenna that i could see, it was all plugged in completely, i took it to the pawn shop down the street and they had the exact radio i had, tried it in the truck and it was crystal clean, ended up buyin a new radio, it was not the ground either cause i retested and wired my whole radio, i'd still like a few pictures of the antenna wire cause mine looks like someone bought 2 and connected em, Redwolf
  5. how hard is it to change the antenna wire? i've came to the conclustion that it's either a bad antenna wire or the wire wiggles around into the radio when it's pluged in, Redwolf
  6. i've tried wigglin every wire and nothin changed, the only thing i can not check is the antanna wire, i can't get enough slack in it to track it through my wirey mess under my dash, is there anyway to test is with a multimeter? Redwolf
  7. ok so this is really botherin me and i can't put it off anymore, this started happenin a few days ago, FM radio would start comin and goin non-stop untill then it's crystal clear, CDs play crystal clear, if i find an AM radio station that comes in is even crystal clear which is sayin somethin, i've checked to make sure all the wires in the back of the radio were plugged in still and yes even the antanna wire, i had my dad hook my radio up when i got it and he spliced the wires into the factory wires like he has on every other vehicle before, the radio i have we have had before and never had this issue, could it be the radio goin bad or what? there is no whinnin noise commin from the speakers, when i take off the radio stops puttin out sound like someone just turned it off and it's drivin me insane, any ideas? Redwolf

If you'd be interested in it, drop me a line. thanks, when and if ya decide and i haven't made for found a hitch by then i'll deffently be interested :) Redwolf I should know by the middle of next week, so I'll keep you posted. alright, sounds good, Redwolf
  9. thanks for the link wombat, that'll help A LOT if i make my own hitch If I decide to purchase a new bumper I will probably sell my hitch. 10. no clue, i was afraid to pull em off incase there was a seal, Redwolf
  11. well i aint bein the guinee pig for that, i found baby powder under the bathroom sink so i'll try that, i do have an idea of where it might come from but i can't logicly see it, Redwolf
  12. thanks for the great advise, and as far as a bumper with shackle mounts, already found the fix for that, the grille gaurd that blue below has :D thanks for the link blue, already had that bookmarked from where i talked to ya about your grille gaurd when i saw it on MJOTM :) thanks for the good advise too, Redwolf
  13. Buy it cheap, take it to a good local welder shop, tell him to use it as a pattern and make one just like it. i thought bought that, i took the messurements of it, when i go back out to my buddy's house (who has it) i'm gonna take pictures since i forgot those  i might end up makin my own http://comancheclub.com/topic/1903-91-eliminator-4x4/?p=18233 Now you have. 1991 Eliminator 4x4, only came in SWB. If I still had the thing I'd take pics to compare how it mounted up. nice :) Redwolf
  14. noted thanks for the link, saved me from searchin today  skimmed through it, and looks like a nice fix :) Redwolf
  15. 6,000 pounds is a tow strap, not a recovery strap. A 2" x 20' recovery strap is rated at 20,000 pounds. A 3" recovery strap is rated for 30,000 pounds. @pete, thanks for the link and the advise, i guess usin a shackle to link two straps is just like usin chains for recovery? @eagle, thanks for the recovery strap ratins, that'll help a lot when i look for some, Redwolf
  16. ok, would bakin soda work? nope, that was my first worry when i bought the MJ, they're dry as a bone, Redwolf
  17. got a link? Redwolf
  18. agreed but havin resources include money as well :) i've also found a hitch easier that the needle in the hay stack, i found a hitch on a mj, the hitch is all rusted through though, Redwolf
  19. Interesting. I'm guessing this is for longbeds only? could be, but i've never seen a shortbed with a hitch Redwolf
  20. but it's held my 6 bolts, 3 on each side right? Redwolf Yes. You can BARELY see them in the picture here: I candy-caned one of the stock bolts that has to come out to mount the hitch and gave up at that point until the weather was better and I had more time...the weather improved but I never made more time. never seen hitches bolted like that, i i've seen em like the only below didn't see that thread when i searched this, this was the first thread that came up that was alone my issue, and like wombat said, not everyone has the resource or tools to do that, i could weld it, maybe even cut it but i'd rather find one made for a MJ or that'll atleast mount up to one, Redwolf
  21. if they're stripped i'm lookin for more of a rounded tooth right? If the teeth are stripped you will have a few good teeth on each end to look at for comparison. The teeth should look the same all the way across. It may be gummed up but this is a common problem to strip out. I think jeep had a recall or service information on this back in the day. back in the day, which means, now a days folks are SOL or on there own, but i'll look for any wear or crud that shouldn't be there, Redwolf
  22. yeah and if i do it's not cheap :fs1: Redwolf
  23. i agreed and found out why no chains, chains are only for towin which what i'll only use em for, no reason to give up, i got through my hardhead Redwolf
  24. but it's held my 6 bolts, 3 on each side right? Redwolf
  25. not online that is, i've been through every parts store, nobody had one, didn't think to search it online  Redwolf
