  1. ok i see a lot of yall use firestick, enough for me to get one, obviously they can't be that bad lol, but what's the best length to get, 3' 4' 5'? that's where i'm at right now is figurin out the length for the antenna, Redwolf
  2. thanks, i'll take that into thought, i think if i mount it on the dash (if legal in VA still) i'll wrap electrical tape around the exsposed coax cable so it doesn't get sun damaged (hopefully) Redwolf
  3. ok, i got it now sweet, any pictures of the cb? Redwolf
  4. makes sense, i was just wonderin, i don't have mine on due to the shifter hittin the console, and why wired into the radio? Redwolf
  5. good idea for mountin, and i'll have to check out firestick than if they're american made and ya havent heard any problems outta em, what's up with the shift boot so deep in the concole? Redwolf
  6. that's one i was lookin at online, i just never heard of firestick and of course my dad (the only on in my family line that still remembers cbs) just went to radio shack and bout the 102 steel whip, i'm not tryin to go 9ft in the air, so 4-5ft would do for me :) Redwolf
  7. went to radioshack today and looked at the cb antennas just to price em and they have two i'd use, one is a 48" single trucker cb antenna for 44.99 and the other is a 48" no-ground cb antenna for 39.99. i know my wallet says go with the no ground one but i don't know the differences between the two, what do yall think, any other "good" cb atennas that are around 5' Redwolf
  8. custom center console? lol i have 3 consoles already, 1 i can't use at all, 1 that's half way broke and another one that if i install when i shift into 5th the shifter lever hits the plastic piece that holds the console on, i'm still workin on a fix for that, but i'm off today untill 630 tonight so i might tinker and find a place to mount it, Redwolf
  9. i've been thinkin bout on the dash but the sun damanged coax cable is a factor i didn't think of, thanks for that heads up seen em mounted like that before, i'd mount mine like that if i didn't have to replace my head board linein, maybe once i replace it i'll mounted up like that how'd the 5' firestik work? i don't like the fact of havin an almost 9' antenna lol, and i didn't think of under the seat but i do want it visable to me Not the best picture, but it should work Image Not Found that makes more sense as far as behide the seat but i don't have bucket seats, only a bench but that is a good idea  Redwolf
  10. i'll try that tomorrow :) thanks No actually, its a carabiner, a compression clip so it doesn't slide on the antenna, and some 550 chord. $5 total at lowes, but I have spools of 550 chord. Might look weird, but it gets the job done. You know, I can't honestly remember who made that antenna. The CB is a Cobra 29 LTD U.S. Army edition, and I think it came in a kit. good old paracord, soo many uses :) that's the cb i wish i had, i love the old style cbs like that, Redwolf
  11. i've seen em mounted like that but only in cj and tj, never noticed how though mounted to the back wall of the cab? i'd like to see that, Redwolf
  12. hmmm, in place of the ashtray, that's a great idea although that's where i have people throw gas money at lol. although that's a place to try, and a weather antenna? Redwolf
  13. has anyone ever used a 5ft antenna with a compact cb or know anyone that has? Redwolf
  14. i've been thinkin bout on top of the dash slightly right of the radio since i bought it, i gotta play around with spots to mount it, i gotta get a mountin bracket first though or make one, Redwolf
  15. makes sense, and is that bungey cord? lol also, who makes your antenna? Redwolf
  16. now that's an idea, didn't think of that due to my mic clip bein there, does the mic cord get in the way of shiftin any? and a 102" whip is 102" longer than what i have, my old cb antenna on my mj was broke when i bought the truck, so that's the next thing i'm buyin, Redwolf
  17. alright folks, i ripped the cb outta my MJ when i first got it cause it was right at the gas pedal and my big foot would hit it plus i had nobody to talk to on a cb, joined a few jeep clubs in my area and would like to talk to em on the roads so i bought a little cobra 19 plus today but i have no idea where to mount it (within arms reach and outta foot range) that won't be in the way of my shifter (bein that i have a manual) and that's not in the way of the radio (most important equipment in a truck), any ideas on where to mount it, places yall have mounted a cb before? also i'm lookin for an antenna but don't know what length whip to get or what kind, any advice on that? Redwolf
  18. built my flag pole, finished it yesterday and got it mounted, started it day before yesterday, went up to 65mph and what happen? NOTHING!! it works like a charm, i have it zip tied at the bed rail where i have 3 holes from the last owner and i have the pole welded to the L piece that i've posted pictures of on here earlier, and that's bolted to the bed, here's some pictures, Redwolf
  19. this hitch will mount up yes with drillin some new holes if ya want it in the proper place, however i've seen a trailer hitch off a MJ (shortbed though) and it was 46 5/8inches long, the hitch at auto in the link above is roughly around 48-49inches, when it's light out i'll messure from mount to mount on my long bed to see if the hitch does have to be 46 5/8inches, i don't see why there'd be a difference between two beds though, Redwolf
  20. ok, i drained my AX5 today and dumped almost 3qrts of the penzoil syncromesh in it and i can already notice a difference, tomorrow in the mornin will be the real test but as it looks, the problem went away (know on wood) Redwolf
  21. i think my control arms are popping as well.. I also plan to use WJ control arms, but mostly for the tire clearance. that wouldn't make since if it's only one side doin it though, just my thought on that, but the poppin noise came back today, i don't get it, everything is tight, greesed and good, Redwolf
  22. how else am i supposed to know if it's tight, just because it looks tight doesn't mean it is, advance proved that with my starter, Redwolf Meaning? thought my starter was dead so i took it to advance to have em test it and the tested it and it didn't work right, they said take it back to napa and they tested it after tightenin the nut on the cylinoid, so i no longer just look to see if things are tight, i actually take a wrench/socket to em and make sure :) Redwolf
  23. how else am i supposed to know if it's tight, just because it looks tight doesn't mean it is, advance proved that with my starter, Redwolf
  24. any difference in what ya used to use? Redwolf
  25. 3 years later? was that with if flyin all day everyday off the XJ? Redwolf I mean it was on the back of my parents deck when it wasn't on the XJ (and it wasnt raining)..lol but it was on the xj probably every other weekend. Minus the last year and it was on for 9/11, the 4th and a couple of other random times. (Because I was at college) ok, well tomorrow i'm gonna try to get a pole and test it out with one of my rebel flags since i haven't bought an american flag to go on yet Redwolf
