  1. Banks later did a Dodge Dakota with a Cummins I-6 5.9 Diesel which also set a record on the salt flats. As for fastest MJ I'm thinking super charged, turbocharged with intercooler, rpm cam,and remove tailgate,or maybe a Nascar style tonue cover  you could mount the turbo under bed and run it off exhaust pipe and air intake tubes back to engine...better yet run 2 turbos off duals from headers, the kind with 3cyl to one collector, and 3cyl to another collector.

  7. I identify bolt threads by matching them up to something in my standard and metric tap-die sets first check the thread gage .Just don't force any thing or you'l cut the threads up.then measure length. I think also knowing the size of wrench or socket you need to remove them would save a few trips back and forth from tool chest to back under Jeep.

  9. I know where the fill plug is,thats not the question,it's funny in the Haynes book it says its on the driver side but the(AX 5) drawing clearly points to the pasenger side fill plug.

  11. I see I'm not the only one with College Son's truck on jack stands for 2 weeks. I wish they had Auto shop at school like I had.

  13. The fill plug is a large hex head bolt on the other side, located under a wire. Thanks Brent for looking up part#.
  14. Thanks thats what I was afraid of .Yes its a 5spd.
  15. :clapping: Thats funny but its realy stuck. When the clutch would not disengage my Son tried to force it in neutral and now its stuck in 2cnd even if shifter is in neutral.
  16. is this the ax5? Image Not Found Image Not Found and what is this plug and what will happen if you remove it? Image Not Found this is where the plug goes Image Not Found does anybody know if theres an adjustment for the shift fork shafts?, because trans is stuck in second gear and when you try to shift into other gears it locks up and it stays in second even when the shifter is in the neutral position
  17. Thanks, Now if I can just figure out how to get in out of 2cnd. gear.
  18. Could be air in cooling system ,low coolant.
  19. here are pictures of the flywheel do you think i can just sand it? Image Not Found Image Not Found
  20. Are the roller pilot bearings better than the bushing type? I took the roller out and I think the kit from Napa comes with a bushing pilot?? BTW, I used a wood dowel rod just over 9/16" dia. hammerd into pilot hole filed with grease and I was surprised that worked to force out pilot.
  21. BLOCK THE WHEELS first! so it won't run you over seems like you could get to T-case linkage from under truck. Is parking brake on? I geuss you could loosten cable. You could pull drive shaft but lots of oil will leak out.You would think tow driver would have a slim jim to unlock door.
  22. :agree: with MVUSSE. Actualy all the posts you got are good advice but don't over look the simple things, and be sure to fix the manifold bolt and gasket that was damage from air pocket/low coolant causing an extra hot area.Do you have a preasure-vacume type radiator cap?you need this with overflow jug.
  23. Yes I have the Haynes book. The fly wheel is'nt awfull but does have a few minnor slightly pale blue marks, the disk was not glazed. The release bearing would not hold pressure even after bleading, so thats the reason for replacement. How much $$ is a new fly wheel and is it a dealer only part??? I'll probably just sand it with 180 grit.
  24. I'm, replacing clutch disk,P-plate,and release bearing on 4 cylinder 5spd.1990 Comanche .The book says to resurface fly wheel it has some slighty heat marks, but somewhere I was told they can't resurface these??? :hmm: Also the trans is now out and it's still stuck in 2cnd gear even when shifter is in neutral position. (my Son tried to force it into neutral when clutch would not disengage). When I shift into other gear positions the input shaft locks up.
  25. Holy C*@! Batman! :ack: :smart:
