  1. find out if stock manifolds are inter changeable that should give some idea if the headers are interchangeable.might be other underhood clearance issues???
  2. Not sure abuot the suspension brackets though? Cut weld, cut respline, any thing is posible the guy on EXTREME 4X4 can have it all done in 45minutes!!!????!!!!! :clapping: :ack: :hmm: :shake: Yea Right :D
  3. Does dash have to come appart to swap in tilt wheel? Will eliminater bucket seats bolt in place of bench?also planing to use auto shifter and console.
  4. True 410's are nice I have those in my RAM with 35"tires.So to find a 410 front I would look under a 4cyl 4wd?(That would be a future project). For this winter we might just fix a few things on donner truck and My Son will drive that and see how things go . I might be ahead of the game to just make a flat bed trail beater out of donner vehicle. How hard is it to swap a wire harness? can things be unplugged and fed through fire wall.Instrument cluster swap would gain a tach that 4cyl did not have.
  5. Fender flares from a desert racer.step side, bushwacker, make some ,or adapt trailer fenders split down the middle. Jc-Whitney sells rubber flares on a roll up to 4" wide.?!?
  6. Truck has cool add-ons ,steering ,wheel bushwacker fender flares, but the tube steps with rust holes thats clasic . I used to cut sheet metal off sides of old apliances (clothes washer or dryer works best don,t bother with a fridge)with a saber/jig saw or reciepricating saw with metal cutting blade,or even circular saw with abrasive wheel {hold on tight and stay clear of path} wear safety glasses or face shield.Washers outer shell comes off easily you can even cut it to keep corners if your pannel needs a bend. Then pop rivit!
  7. See how truck drives over 55mph. When WE test drove my sons 2.5 I never went over 40 truck only had 65000 miles but 1 cyl had very low compression. To much vibration on highway because engine needs repair but I love it on city streets. Internal hydrolic clutch release bearing looses preasure all the time but I'm begining to think when engine vibrates it shakes fluid and this causes bubbles. If our trucks engine ran right it would be awsome love the 5spd,also truck is 2wd so less power is needed.
  8. Measure all your leafs and look at JY for something close,or add leafs with more arch between the leafs you have. Spring shop can re-arch and make add-a-leafs. Longer shackles could make slightly longer main spring work. Buy overload springs, not the best option but might get an inch.
  9. Is The Gas tank and fuel pump on the long bed 4cyl the same as the one in the 6cyl shortbed? they look simular. Will 4cyl tank run a 6cyl they are both 1990, 4cyl is throttle body injection and 6cyl is multi port?
  10. My son is also a colledge student, And the local high school has no auto shop,so kids don,t learn all this stuff like I did . I even had an an auto electrical class as well as a 2 hour auto shop and still ask alot of ???? Nice truck Jake.
  11. Thanks for the input. I left out a few details. I have both complete trucks they both are drivable ,the 4cyl needs rebiulding and the rusted body 6cyl 4wd needs trackbar and tie rods . I'm swaping the 6cyl auto t-case front and rear axles radiator exhaust front drive shaft ( and ECU thanks for pointing that out) into the 2wd pioneer. Unless I find a manual trans with external slave cheap ,is AX-15 external slave?
  12. Have 90 2wd pioneer 4cyl 5spd (good body)converting to 4wd with parts from 90 6cyl automatic trans 4wd Eliminator(very rusty big rust holes!). Any advice? I have air tools cherry picker etc. and have done engine and trans swaps, and suspension work.Just looking for things to watch out for . Do I report conversion to Insurance or have to re-register it? They don't have any inspections here, especialy with minimum ins. coverage. Are all Dana 35's C-clip? one says 35C the other looks like just 35 . are 2wd and 4wd 4-links the same? 4wd is short bed 2wd is long bed and drive shaft dia. is way differant should I shorten 4cyl big diameter shaft or look for used long bed 4wd shaft? how much $ is used drive shaft?
  13. Do you mean a steel (hard) line ? seems like It needs the hose part to flex between fire wall mounted master and rubber mounted trans?
  14. Is The line dealer only ? anybody have a part#. Also the fluid level never gets low but I suppose line hose could colapse and leak between layers.I know the post is getting old, to many things going on at once, too many ??? Thanks.
  15. The slave release bearing is new from NAPA auto parts . No I did not replace the line.
  16. I'm just glad I'm not color blind.
  17. Good point keep other jack free I've had to raise truck higher in middle of a trans job.
  18. :dunno: Does your trans have a lock-up torque converter? Could it be converter or trans front pump noise? Did you pull the sheet metal cover off bell housing? Check fluids and diff oil. Exhaust check valve thingy for air injection emmissions system?
  19. Eastwood sells a rust encapsulator that is better than por-15.
  20. I had a 77 F250 2wd with a 351 M (years ago) and a car with a 351W and yes the M is much bigger block and trans bolt patern as well. But thanks :wavey:
  21. A friend was able to fix the AX-5 but now even with a new clutch master and slave/release bearing and clutch assembly, the hydraulic clutch looses pressure after about two weeks but the master is still full to the mark.I did switch from synthetic to regular dot3 last time I bleed it and for now its still holding but it's only been a week. any Ideas. On the plus side my 18yr Son and 13yr Daughter know how to bleed a clutch now :clapping:
  22. Some places sell an adapter or replacement saddle for floor jack that converts it to trans jack for about 40-50$.
  23. Come to think of it I have also seen a V-8 pinto. I'm in Michigan so your a little far away.
  24. I'd have to park Jeep next to Ford and roll back and forth with a tape measure.
