That parked car is my XJ, no way I was gonna swipe it!

This was the washer fluid heater I installed: https://amzn.to/2U58JCo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQPviIxJbsM&list=PLDbSTRhfMcEi5W6f-Hiwyoi2MczAYKA8_&index=1 So its been about a month. I've been trying it out in the mornings. It does work, and it does help clear off ice. For those curious about the temp, I held up my hand to feel the spray, its barely warm feeling, but enough that it helps clear the window. Once we get into deeper winter I will try and take a video of it in the morning to show how it clears. Overall I'm happy with it and I think I'll look at picking another couple for my other vehicles, my VW could really use it, and it would be just a "nice to have" on the KJ. For the XJ/MJ its almost like it was meant to go there.

I just realized I have become a bond villian: https://youtu.be/HGH8Ht1ZXHc?t=29

So I got the "heritage certificate" back for the Vin, this is important to verify the age of the vehicle for import. Turns out the color was originally stratus blue: I thought the original color was red, and this blue panel had been replaced, but I believe this blue is original, and the red is from a respray a long time back.

Forward control makes a for a good crew cab truck with a good length bed in a reasonable wheelbase/turning radius. We need another forward control Jeep.

Man those gasser engine bays look so weird.

Pete that KJ could be a good little flip for ya, or just a rust free KJ. Or make money parting it out. Price that cheap heap and I could just about buy it just for the engine to swap into a Land Rover......

also, move your trailer brake controller. The ash tray is great for me, the only place I have right now to put change was my cupholder, and then my coffee cup wouldnt sit right.

We've seen some running rusty KJs for $2k at this point, almost cheap enough for parts Jeeps. When I added it to mine I daisy chained the power off the exisiting one, which is always hot. So both are hot. But I like the way the 2002s are, which is like the XJs. If the junkyard Jeep was an 05+ it would have the flat hood, and some 07 limiteds. The 02-04 Renegade had the same hood.

I have found a wonderful sticker that defender owners have used to express where they have sunk their money:

Lots of good discussion I'll leave this link as a reference item: http://colorado4wheel.com/images/jeepwheels/wheelsindex.html My personal favorite is the 16" Ultrastar wheel. Factory on my Freedom edition: But I also run them on my KJ, MJ, etc.

Its much more modern looking for sure. If I can I would like to find an OEM dash, but thats probably hard to come across and expensive, and might be more work than the aftermarket. The aftermarket has been specifically setup to be easy to retrofit.

Also I found recently that the 2002 KJS have a radio bezel that has 2 power outlets instead of 1, and an ashtray. This is much more useful than the single power outlet and dumb ledge that the 03+ have. I swapped in the silver bezel from a 2002 into my KJ and now I have 2 outlets!

Pete, the renegades came with auto dimming/heated side view mirrors, or at least some did. And most came with heated mirrors. Both are nice upgrades if you don't have heated mirrors.

My junkyard score recently was finding 2 CRDs at the yards, I picked up a CRD engine for $461.

Several Renegades have been through my local yards over the years, if the light bar wasn't damaged before someone always beat me to it. Few weeks back an 02 Renegade got put out that clearly had the lightbar in the pictures, it was put out on thursday, I got there on saturday morning after they opened. it was gone. But, they didn't take the lightbar switch.....or the light bar light covers that snap in.....weird. Same day I found an 05 Renegade at another yard.....with no lightbar, but it never had one to start with, 05+ the renegade was just a appearance package, not all came with skids and not all came with the lightbar. I really want the renegade hood for my KJ, I love the flat hood look over the bubble eyes most KJs had.

I always thought the Lada was a Joke. Jokes on me!

Why does your 2001 Have the older style roof rack? SEs were discontinued in 2001 so every sport should have come with the 99-01 style roof rack.
-
Well, go ask, take pics. I’m curious to see what you’ve found.

Small yard owner with a defender around? Hard to believe. Ask and take pics, its honestly hard to believe anyone would let a defender sit around rotting in a yard. Even if it doesn't have a title ask how much.

One of the things I've been thinking about is a LHD conversion. There is a company in the UK that makes replicas of the "Puma" dash installed in the last defenders. For the cost of buying LHD conversion dash parts from a used defender I can get this replica and update the look of the interior. OEM puma dash: Replica of Puma dash: They have a new dash panel that allows you to fit the exisiting gauges into the newer dash: Old style: They also sell a RHD or LHD airbox that includes AC. So everything bundled together makes a very nice update for the LHD conversion. For the LHD conversion I also need a LHD steering knuckle and box, but both of those can be sourced from a US Discovery, so this puts me firmly in the relm of LHD.

Usually thats a dirty battery terminal. lets through enough juice to power things up, but when the big load comes along it arcs out and doesn't make connection. Clean your battery terminals.
