  1. Because I have to deal with these kind of issues on a daily basis, and I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, even when they are screwing me over. You aren't being an a-hole at all. I don't get hot tempered that often, even when the issues at hand are right in my face. I prefer to resolve things as peacefully as possible. I'm a firm believer that Karma affects us all, and if I do what I feel is the right thing, I'll be repaid back the same way one day. Yes, I'm pi$$ed off at Pat. Does that mean I'm going to go on here and call him every name under the sun? Nope. I just want to resolve this as fast as possible. Name calling and threats are only going to make Pat take that much longer. If he can see that I am still willing to take the parts, or take my money back, that may motivate him enough to get his a$$ in gear and get it done. Hopefully you understand my motives now.
  2. Thanks Rob, but I need to get this thing on the road before the first snowfall. That was my plan...now I need to stick to it!
  3. Thank you. I appreciate any help I can get.
  4. That's correct. You essentially gave the rims less backspace, moving them further away from the body/axle.
  5. Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the inner lip of the wheel, on a parallel plane. The less backspacing, the further the wheel sticks out. The greater the backspacing, the further under the vehicle the rim fits.
  6. I appreciate the findings, but he was a college kid...and realized he drank too much. In any case, it has nothing to do with this thread. Thanks.
  7. Obviously Pete would be the one to make the call on banning Pat, but I don't think that is completely necessary. The idea was mentioned that he should not be allowed to sell things on here, and I would agree with that. As far as the substance abuse thing, that seems to be heresay...as I don't ever remember seeing anything along those lines. There isn't any reason to bring something like that up at this point, as it just adds fuel to the fire of the mob. Let's see if we can motivate Pat to get me my harness first :shake:
  8. If someone does go get it, let me know who you are, and I'll send you the money to ship it to me! If you do go, please don't make a big deal about it to Pat on my behalf. He knows what he did, and he has to live with it.
  9. I appreciate the support that you guys are giving me on this matter, and I also appreciate those that know Pat personally, and know he is a good guy. I don't doubt that for a single minute. Reading that thread that he posted on NAXJA, I can see that he is/was trying to make a change in his life for the better. The reason for this post was not about making Pat look like the bad guy. On the contrary...I'm just looking at getting my harness so I can get my project closer to completion. I tried keeping things quite, and giving Pat the benefit of the doubt on this for the last 2 months, but that didn't seem to work. I do have Pat's phone number, and may call him, but I doubt he will answer an number he doesn't know. Hornbrod, I agree with what you are saying completely. I run a rather large Jeep forum (Jeepsunlimited.com), and have to deal with these kind of folks on a daily basis. That's one of the reason's I come here...less BS. Pete runs a great community, but it stinks for everyone when things like this happen. To those that offered, I'm looking for a harness for a Renix 4.0 with an AX-15 for my 90 MJ. Feel free to PM me with what you have, and what you are looking to get out of it. As long as the transaction goes smoothly, I'm willing to pay for it...again. Thanks for all the support guys....hopefully we can resolve this yet. -Aaron
  10. Well, it appears that Pat has struck again. After many PM's to him, I am out $200, and don't have the complete wiring harness in my possession. Its really sad that it has to come to this again. I gave Pat plenty of opportunities to make this right. The initial thread that started it all : viewtopic.php?p=173196 From this, Pat sent me a PM, and we went from there. After negotiating a final price of $200 for the complete harness, I sent him $100 to his PayPal account on June 12th, with the promise of sending out the other $100 the following Friday, June 19th, which I did send. At that point, I knew Pat wasn't going to have it shipped out until after I sent him the final payment, which was no big deal. PM dated Friday, 19th June, 2009 First PM from me to him inquiring as to where the harness is, sent Wednesday, 01 July, 2009: Second PM from me inquiring as to where the harness is. sent Tuesday, 07 July, 2009: Third PM, and this time I am getting worried. Sent Friday, 10th July, 2009: At this point, I learned that Pat had some surgery, so I let it go. I know how rought it can be after something like that, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. In the last thread about him taking a while to send some items, he posted this, dated 24th July, 2009 (One month ago today) After that post, I figured it would only be a short while until I got my harness. I was wrong again. Today, August 24th, is just shy of 3 months dealing with Pat over items that he received payment on within the first 2 weeks of the transaction. Does it seem rather odd to anyone that Pat has been missing from the board lately? It doesn't to me.... Pat...man up and either send me my money back, or ship the damn harness.

  12. I don't think it will, but I am not 100% sure. I used a Timken PB77HD Pilot Bushing for a 73 CJ with 304 V8. They should be able to cross reference that Timken number to a cheaper one if you want, but it shouldn't be that expensive. Just make sure to use a brass drift on something non-marring when you install it.
  13. Pete, Do you have any pics of this? Specifically where in-line did you adapt it with the fitting? I to have a new clutch master with the threaded connection under the motor, and want to adapt that to my external slave with the set pin connection. I see you used the compression fitting, but can you tell me where in the setup that fitting is located? I've got the tranny in and mounted up, just need to get the slave on there!
  14. The sensor on top of the bellhousing...is that the CPS? Doesn't it read the gaps in the flywheel? If my memory serves me correctly, the gaps seemed different between the 94 XJ flywheel and the 90 MJ flywheel in my case. I'll assume it has to do with Renix v/s AMC? In either case, I reinstalled the MJ flywheel just to be safe. Am I way off here?
  15. Is it out of gas? :dunno: Seriously...that's a pretty vague question. Have you checked for spark? Can you hear the fuel pump running? Is your fuse panel corroded from a leaky clutch master cyl?
  16. Does anyone have access to the torque specs on the tranny parts? I can't seem to find my Haynes manual at the moment, and would like to start on this tomorrow. Looking for: Flywheel bolt torque pressure plate and clutch disc bolt torque bellhousing to block bolts torque specs Thanks folks!
  17. Have you ever done it before? It takes quite some time to learn to do it properly. This would be one of the things I would leave to a professional were it my truck.
  18. Mechanically, make sure everything shifts fine. Is it 4X4? Make sure the transfer case shifts smoothly in and out of 4WD. Make sure it drives well in 4 Hi, and test the 4 Lo if you can take it off cement or blacktop. Look at the motor. Make sure there isn't excessive oil coming from the valve cover, or the head gasket area. Do the fluids look like the owner maintained them? Look at the serpentine belt for excessive cracks and wear. Check the battery for excessive corrosion. Look at the tire tread and make sure it has adequate depth. Make sure there are no puddles of fluid under it. Cosmetically, it really depends on where you are located. If you are in the rust belt, chances are a 21 year old truck isn't going to be perfect. Rockers and bed are usually the first to go around here. All of these things can be used as a bargaining chip if the price seems too high for you.
  19. I was hoping to have the truck done by the end of August, but I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen :fs1: I've been waiting for my pilot bushing to get here (Couldn't find one locally to mate the Renix motor to the HO AX-15 since the shaft diameter changed between the models). Ended up getting a Timken PB77HD from Rock Auto. I guess they don't stock them, as they noted that it had to come from the MFG. Figures the Timken plant in Akron, OH wouldn't be the place that makes them...this one came from Reno, NV...that's why it took over a week to get here. I could have gotten a cheaper one locally, but I have always liked Timken, so I waited for it. Knocked this in with a brass drift. Should it be pushed in as far as it will go? Of course when I was taking the drive line from the 94 XJ I had, 4 of the 6 studs from the t-case backed out. I was able to get the nuts off of 2 of them, but had to cut the other 2 out of the tranny to get them out. It just happens that a guy that I work with had an extra t-case at his place, so he told me I could have all the studs and nuts off of it. I double-nutted them, and backed them off. They installed pretty easy in the t-case I am using...too easy in fact. I pulled them back out and made sure to use a liberal amount of red loctite on them so they will stay in the t-case. I was pretty sure they were too short to bottom out in the t-case holes, so I just made them as flush with the 2 good studs that were in there. Got my SYE on a few weeks ago...nothing exciting there. The only issue was that the kit required pressing out the roller bearings on the main shaft. A brass drift works wonders on things like that. Got the SYE on, buttoned the case back up with black RTV, and it just needs fluid now. The clutch kit I picked up came with a new throwout bearing, pressure plate, and clutch disc. Pretty easy install. I won't say the parts are better than OEM, but they have to be better than the 15 year old parts that were in it. Finding quality replacement parts is getting to be a real hassle, especially when on a budget. The clutch and pressure plate look very well made...we'll see how they perform. I was going to go with Centerforce, but I don't think I needed to spend the extra cash on that. The flywheel is barley worn, so I'll clean it up, and re-use it. The stock tranny mount is made of some kind of material that like to disintegrate, so I picked up a Daystar poly trans mount. I've heard that they have vibration issues, but I didn't like the replica OEM replacements that I saw. I'll just have to live with a little vibe if it is there. The new mount was a little tight when installing it on the factory backing plate, but an impact helped to drive it flush. I've also included a side-by-side of the OEM mount versus the poly mount. The poly mount sits about 1/4" higher, so I don't know if there will be issues with that or not. The last thing on the list is a WJ brake booster that I picked up from a Jeepsunlimted Forum user. Got the whole thing for $30 shipped. I remember seeing some posts here on doing this swap, but I would appreciated it someone could direct me to them again, as I guess my search entries aren't the right ones. More things to do tomorrow, as I got a free day off of work. Going to mount the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc. Clean up the trans mount plate and paint it. Take 2 of my tires and get the 33's mounted. Strip out the 99 XJ doors for paint. Check all the 97+ parts for fitment. Tons of stuff still to do, and so little time
  20. Jim, I think if you take your time and do it right it will look great. I vote that you tie that bumper in to the existing one. Leave the d-ring mounts where they are. Cut the wrap-around part so it sits more flush with your body line, and call it good.
  21. Nice! I may...or may not...have bought a FSJ tailgate at the York show when I was there :waving: I'm going to take a different route than you...but you'll have to wait and see.
  22. I found tons of info out there on the Sanden...not so much on the York.
  23. So I've searched and browsed and searched some more. Can't seem to find any info on how you guys without AC are mounting your OBA systems. I have a nice York compressor that I'd like to use for OBA at some point. I checked out Kilby's site, and he doesn't have any brackets or mounting solutions for XJ's/MJ's. Anyone have any ideas or links they can post up to help a brother out? Thanks!
  24. Your link is broken... You will need some support on the motor, and maybe a friend to help. I've done them on a TJ...never an MJ. Why not try these? http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=43384 http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=43059 http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=43060
  25. I've never used it, but I used to help my dad do the underside of his truck with used motor oil. He would thin it out with some kerosene and spray it all under the truck before the first snow fall. That old Ford lasted a long time, and the oil would usually be almost gone by the spring time.
