I followed the write up about switching the tracks to put bucket seats on bench seat mounts. My problem is I can't get the bench mounts out of the truck. I tried drilling the rivits out in the truck but the "roller" part will not come off, am I missing anything??

Looking for a hood latch, the piece that is on the truck, not on the hood.

Can someone tell me where I can find a windshield wiper relay? Going through conventional auto parts stores can be mind numbing ....you put in specific searches and get a runaround. Thanks, Jim
-
That looks exactly like what I need...except for that large nipple thing at the top..

I need the rear grommet for a 2.5l valve cover. The front one is the PCV valve, the rear one is what I need, don't know what "valve" it is. It's similar to the PVC valve one, but the top hole is much smaller for that ??? valve thing...the "thing" in question is to the right, the black round thing. If you don't have a grommet and can identify the part, please fill me in. Thanx, Jim

torque for plastic valve cover?
thejum57 replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No disrespect meant Pete! Just that most of you guys do seem to pull up info out of the air. I know the metal one is the bomb, but my truck needs LOTS of stuff, one income family, daily driver...uup! Trying to fix stuff one by one. Keep up the good work. Awesome site. Thanks again -
torque for plastic valve cover?
thejum57 replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, did look this up and found this site; https://www.extremeterrain.com/wrangler-yj-engine-torque-specs.html The reason I was being "lazy"....my words, was because the all knowing internet gives you lot's of non- info, and a run around. You guys usually just give straight up info. I do know most of the "look it up" stuff, just needed the torque specs. Thanks guys! -
Has anyone tried a canvas camper?
thejum57 replied to Kickin’Chicken's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is SOOOO cool!!!! I personally have what we in the Eastern MA call a Cap, others call it a topper. Mine is on in winter and off in summer, have a pulley system in my garage to hoist it. Plus, it's lockable, and secure, minus, it's heavy and requires 2 people to install, remove, or a pulley system. Only drawback to this one is security. Otherwise it is just bad @$$ Millitary looking!!!! -
I am being lazy, I could look this up, but would anyone know off hand what the torque would be for a plastic valve cover on a 2.5l Comanche?? I called the parts store who "loans' tools, and heasked if I needed one for inch lbs. or foot lbs., I said inch....I snapped my original with a socket wrench so I figured there is not much tolerance. Got a new cover, grommets, oil cap, gasket, and will be getting new hoses for pcv, and the other "thing". Going to tighten this baby up, leaking a ton. I probly already paid for a steel cover, installation, and a few oil changes so far with the leaking Thanx for any input Jim

Hi, I'm looking for an exact fit metal valve cover for my 86 2.5l . The prices for new ones are crazy! Jim
-
Pete, no I didn't know there were fees. All of the sudden it seemed that I could only access pics from a short while ago. So you have to "buy" your photos now??? That's at least borderline illegal. Awesome, I have lots of pics that I can never re-take....lost forever....CRIMINALS !!!!
-
What is the deal with photobucket? It seems like 80% of my pics are inaccessible???
-
It's the arms that won't come off. The top nuts snapped off, and the bottom nuts came off, but the arms themselves won't budge. I bought a set of new arms, so I don't care how I get them off!
-
So, I got the bolts off the "arms" but now they will not come off. I tried beating them with a hammer, with a screw driver. Thew will not budge. Any tricks I don't know???? Thanks, Jim

I see this in a lot of posts, is it ME that needs to up grade? And what do I need to do?

I've just noticed a loud bang noise in the right front of my truck only when driving on rough surfaces, and taking a hard left into my driveway. It looks like the left side of the stabilizer bar , (not sure if that's the name) the top bushing looks like it failed...it was on top of the bolt. Is this a difficult fix, meaning does the nut on top usually snap, or will it come off? Here are a few pics. Is it ok to drive for a bit untill I can fix it ? Thanks ! Jim

I've gotten the front exhaust pipe off my truck, but can't get the nuts and blots off of the front of the converter where the pipe meets it. Can I drive this about a 1/4 mile to a shop to have them taken off, or will this mess up the engine??

exhaust manifold doughnut??
thejum57 replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, that is just the way it looked to me when the pipe came off. Thanks ! -
I just pulled off the front exhaust pipe, from the manifold to the "cat". There was no "doughnut" gasket there. Is that the way it is, just bolt the new one up? It also looks like you couldn't put one in. Before the back of the pipe rotted out the truck was quiet. It's a 2.5l 4 cyl. Thanks !

Hey guys, I have an after market horn with a button on the dash. The relay blew (horn stopped working and relay just clicks). I got a new one that matches the old one. If I manage to hook it up wrong will it blow, or just not work? Thanks !!!

Just my 2 cents, I have an 86 2.5, 2WD, 5 spd. In my opinion it has plenty of power for my needs, hauls like a champ and gets great gas mileage. I have an 18 mile round trip to and from work, and I put about $20.00 +/_ a week in the tank. My buddy who has a Dodge Ram 4 door Hemi spends $50+ for around the same trip. I wish my truck was 4WD, but I'm glad it's a 2.5 !!!

Do air compressors really need to be bled and drained after each use? I bought a Sears in the mid 90's, and worked it up until a few years ago when it died. I always left air in it because I thought if it was empty, that is when moisture would form. I did drain it periodically to drain out any water in it. What is the general thought ..... to drain, or not to drain? Thanks !

replaced water pump, now overheating ?
thejum57 replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How would I know if I have an air pocket, and how would I fix that? It is a "v" belt pump, not a serpentine. From what I saw ordering the pump, the Serpentine rotates the opposite way of the V belt . -
I replaced the water pump in my 86, 2.5L Comanche. It was screeching, and groaning. Only one heater hose and lower radiator hose to remove, simple replace. Fired it up, added some antifreeze....SO much came out...a whole other story. Then the overheating Idiot light came on???? It was only running for 5 minutes?, I opened the radiator cap......not a good idea, I know better. Parked it, fired it up after work today, same deal. All the hoses are new. WTF ???? I thought I was HELPING it !
