  1. Ya man it was sad to see what he did to that near perfect Chief. :(
  2. The red tag states it was built on 1-3-96. Mine says 8-16-88.
  3. Dude that thing is gorgeous! Why would you ever think about selling it?
  4. This is by far the nicest restoration Ive ever seen on a Comanche. GREAT JOB. :USAflag:
  5. My computer got a "cryptor" virus out of the blue thursday night. I even lost my dsl connnection, as my modem is not displaying the "internet" light. My AVG picked it up, but couldnt get rid of it. Since I can't get online, I took it to a computer guy. I usually can figure out that kinda stuff, but that one had me stumped.
  6. I live about 20 minutes from Pete in the Metro Detroit area. The last time I saw an MJ on the road was last fall, and it was rusted almost up to the door handles, and the guy looked like he lived in it. Trash on the passenger side up to the roof. If I find an MJ in great shape I'm gonna buy it. Then my XJ and the MJ will both get rotisserie restored to exact showroom specifications.
  7. It was driving across the parking lot at a distance. If it was parked it would have defiantly gotten a card. can't any of you greedy guys spare one rust free mj? :fs1: :D
  8. I saw my first Comanche since last fall today at school driving through the parking lot. The salt eats all the MJ's around here. :fs1: I envy all you guys.
  9. Nope just pop off the tcase and trans bezels, and remove the 2 screws from the black tray. Remove the 2 screws from near the e-brake, and 2 inside the storage box. Then grab the console, brackets and the air deflector for the lower vent on the dash.
  10. Lookin good. don't forget to add a rear CCV line from your orfice to the manifold.
  11. I think he's talking about streetjeep2.5's Jeep.
  12. Its doing it now while in park and neutral revving as well. I believe now it is an exhaust manifold leak, gasket leak or egr leak. I removed the inspection cover and all the flexplate bolts were tight.
  13. Ok guys. Ill try to narrow it down more, from what I observed today. It only happens in gear, with the engine over 1500rpms and accelerating. If I am cruising along, put the trans in neutral and rev, the ticking is gone. If I am cruising in OD (45+mph) there is a softer constant tick. If I am under 45 and push the engine past 3500 rpms, the noise will eventually fade away. The noise is right below my feet, and is audible from outside the cab. It sounds like a sticky lifter, but again, below my feet. The sound does not get louder or softer with the engine temp. I think I can rule out a u joint. Could it still be flywheel bolts? If so, how do I check those?
  14. I'm gonna check for play in the driveshaft in the front, then the flexplate, since the noise is in the front. Thanks guys.
  15. The front d/s spins while in 2wd?
  16. What would cause a light ticking right near my feet while accelerating, but when I rev the engine in park or neutral, the tick is gone. Also when I coast in gear there is no ticking, only accelerating in Drive. This started yesterday after I floored it hard to get into traffic. 88 4.0, AW4, 231.
  17. That makes a lot of sense. Since my input voltage was 4.66, and since it doesnt matter, I adjusted my output voltage from .8v to .83. I should move it back to the way it was to see if I notice a difference.
  18. Yes I adjusted it per Chiltons, but the FSM seems similar. My input voltage was 4.66, and I adjusted my output voltage to 3.87, to get 0.830. Before I adjusted, my output voltage was 3.0. And since 3.0/4.66 is 0.815, and the output should be ~.83, I adjusted the output voltage to 3.87, from the original 3.0. Like I said, I'm not sure if that causes my rough idle, but it was worth looking into.
  19. I actually replaced my CPS a few weeks ago (the cutting out has been happening since Janruary) and the CPS is not near the manifold. I'm guessing a baffle broke off...
  20. Ive been chasing my tail with a intermittent low/rough idle, trying to think back to when it started, and I remembered adjusting my TPS for the first time a few months back, and it may or may not have controbuted to my low/rough idle. So, would adjusting a TPS from 80% to the reqired 83% make my idle low and rough?
  21. I think it will be well worth the wait if you wait and find either black 2 door Cherokee seats, or Comanche buckets. Like I said, I have seen every style and shape of interior at my junkyard, so I'm bound to find the black again.
  22. The headrests in the basic buckets I have now come up to my shoulder blades. I don't believe having buckets with headrests will make a dramatic difference when it comes to whiplash safety...
  23. Yep, the connector is indeed above the motor mount bracket. How could I forget about the CTS??!?!?! Ive been trying to fight a nasty rough idle, and Ive just been digging for anything out of the norm, frayed wires, etc. Also Ive changed everything under the hood except the 4.0. Oh well. Thanks for the CTS reminder.
  24. Nah the fan connector is up next to the fan. The mystery plug is near the oil pan next to the knock sensor. I guess I need to post a pic then...
  25. Drivers side. Its one harness. 3 wires go to the o2 sensor, two wires go to the knock sensor, and there is another connector right above the knock sensor with 2 wires. Its no where near the CPS.
