jeez I'm a member of that and didnt think of it. guess i am just so use to being on here since i don't own a gladiator yet. Alex

Image Not Found Anyone have the specs for this truck. Other then it was a 63-67 Gladiator, manual, 4x4, step-side, empire blue, so on and so on. I mean like real specs. Or if you could take a guess at tire size and lift size that would help. I want to get one just like this one day and I love the looks of this one. So I would like to make it as close as I can. Thanks, Alex

man thats good $h!t right there. should have got some with the tow truck. Alex
-
don't tell me that dodge is the work truck. because if its stuck back there then thats sad. lol. and my 86 got through stuff worse then that, most the time in 2wd. i will post some up soon. i have a ton. Alex

already stated that it is not the amc20. Alex Oiz was talking about what razrwild said. His buddy with a 3.52 geared rear end. oops. i have been out of it all day. stupid me. Alex

seems about right. then i would just keep the 3.73s unless you are wanting a serious off-road machine then i would find a better rear axle with 4.10s all around. but my 86 had the d35 with 3.73s and my 91 has the d35 with 3.55s and i had 31"s on both of them and they do fine in mud and stuff. have not had a 35 blow on me yet. the CAD fix in my project turns a command-trac d30 into a selec-trac d30. the command-trac d30 is a 3 piece axle, the selec-trac is 2 piece. this just makes the one side into a "solid" shaft rather then split shaft, IT DOES NOT MAKE IT STAY IN 4WD like most people think it does. you engage it from the lever in the cab on the t-case. that is what puts it into 4wd. i know people that have had their CAD like this for years with no problems. i didnt get it in that video in my project but before i pulled the lever neither front tire was spinning, they were just sitting there till i pulled the lever in the cab. you could also swap out the shafts in the front axle to the newer ones from a newer xj ot tj with selec-trac and the bigger u-joints. or just swap to the newer selec-trac d30. Alex

just depends what your xj has in it. if its 3.55 don't bother. if you have a lucky one with 4.10s... see what i mean. some xjs had 4.10s in them, not sure if it was only the ones with the d44 or not though (i have only ever been around MJs and K-10s, don't know much about xjs spec-wise). what are you planning on doing with this mj? lift and bigger tires and the 3.73s will do great as long as you don't over do the tire size. but the d35 is really weak (yours isnt as weak as the c-clip ones though since yours should be a non-c-clip one). Alex

you should have also got the axles (gearing i mean) from it since they would have been a much better ratio for the 4.0 then those 3.73s, unless you happen to have the amc20 rear end rather then a d35. get us some pics of this thing when you get the chance. Alex
-
as for the CAD. just get rid of it. it is not needed and turns out to be more of a problem then its worth. do the "fix" that is in my 91 eliminator project thread and you will never have to worry about 4wd again. just pull the lever and you are in 4wd. Alex
-
my 2.8 ayto had 3.73 gearing in it. but yes i would swap to the 4.0 and an aw-4 or at least swap to the 3.4 enigines. those 2.8s are junk all around. Alex

CRD means? common rail diesel. Alex

alright tranny is out of the picture for synths. what do you all think about valvolines synthetics? the "dura blend" and "syn power". Alex
-
actually my truck is exactly what you are looking for. Powertech-six 4.0L HO, SWB, 4x4, Auto, Eliminator. most common set up for this is the Eliminator in that combo only in 91s and 92s since the HO was only offered in those years in the MJs. Alex
-
ok so i thought i had synthetic transmission fluid in my transmission but eagle brought up in another topic that i was the only person he heard of with that in a jeep. so i checked it out and the guy only charged me for the syns but used regular old dexron 3. so this brings me to the question of this, what synthetics work best in jeeps. 4.0L HO, aw-4, stock axles is mine. wanting to go all synthetics but if i can't then i need to know what i can't use, can use, and what would be best for the jeep. Thanks, Alex

Adjusting T-case linkage
GirsMJ86 replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
one way to test if 4wd is working is this. get in some stones (like a driveway) and floor it. in 2wd it wants to sink pretty good, in 4wd it takes off almost right away. or you can put the truck up on stands (front and rear) and test it. if it does happen to be the disco then take a look at my write-up in my 91 project section page 3. sounds like its the disco though if it just quite working. linkage will make it kick out of 4wd and stuff but not make it not work at all unless its just way loose or not connected at all. Alex -
well with mine being a 91 stuff was changed that year. chrysler did a few mods to the way the grille went together. i will do some side-by-side shots of the 91-92 parts and the 86-90 grille parts when i do the swap. the trim above the grille is connected to the grille and then splits above the headlight doors and is connected to them. same way with the bottom trim. the 91 grilles are just 3 pieces rather then 5 pieces. Alex
-
well i finally found a 19/32 socket. so i will now be attempting to remove the front bumper so i can put an 86 grille on it. i have been told that an older grille will not fit correctly and that there is nowhere for the trim to fit. but upon closer looks the holes for the trim are still there and it seems the only problem is going to be the corner markers not lining up with the 91 hole positions. i figured i could just drill new holes and use longer screws and be done with it. once i get a break in weather i will get this done with some pics. Alex

get your hands on a factory manual that way you can figure out how to remove and reinstall stuff. even an xj manual would work for just dash work. rear of the doors back you will need the mj manuals. Alex

sounds like you need to test the pressure the fuel pump is putting out. i am sure there are some other things you can do to fix it but the engine does not sound ruined or needing to be replaced. i would not be sure of the other things you can do since i have not had problems. i am sure other will chime in. Alex
-
unless the engine in your 89 is really high in mileage (over 300k) it still should be good unless it was abused. what is it doing exactly? might just need a few new sensors or something. Alex
-
and you can easily turn a 4.0 into an HO buy rounding all the parts up. but my 91 seems to love going through regular gas more then my 88 did with just the normal 4.0L. so i run premium in my 91 and get about 425 miles per tank, on a short bed with the tiny tank IIRC. Alex
