  1. Thats what i was kinda thinking, the 2 1/2 ton look, hoops and all :) .
  2. I just thought of something else that would be totally cool (IMO), and that is making a canvas topper to match, i think they were beige. Anyway, just my $.02 Dan
  3. Alex, i like the willys emblem for its authentic/rustic look. 8)
  4. The only # i was able to find is the base weight of 2955 lbs. (according to msn_auto) don't know how reliable that # is though.
  5. Count me in. Those are beautiful, excellent pics, nice job. Having grown up in N. Dakota, we would get a few storms like that, along with an occassional twister. Loved to watch, even when everyone else was headed for cover!
  6. If it was me, i would reconsider not selling your MJ, after all they are quite unique and rare. We'll try to help ya with the SS thing. Oh and BTW, be careful when using such words as cause. It was on this forum or maybe one of the other boards that the rocket scientists get riled for not stating the obvious  lol.
  7. I guess i was looking at it outside the context of 'cause & effect'. Lets do this, go disconnect the track bar from your ride or at least loosen it, then take said vehicle out on the freeway and go 70 MPH. Are you willing to even take that kind of a chance!
  8. Let me clear things up so there is no confusion: A bad track bar can indeed lead to shimmy and/or death wobble(DW). In fact, other than unbalanced tires, or excessive play in the steering system, it is the leading cause. Although it is the leading cause of DW, it can be harder to diagnose as you need to look for 'play' thoughout the entire steering system. But it is very important that you do, as the end result, if not properly diagnosed can be dangerous. If you find out that you have a bad track bar or excessive play in any of your steering components, have them repaired immediately. I have heard of actuall fatalities occur (and now understand why) due to a steering component breaking while a vehicle is in motion! I have also had to change out the track bar in all 5 of our Jeeps, as it was the first component to fail within the steering system!
  9. 'The truck still wanders, so he does need to replace the track bar, but the track bar was not "causing" the death wobble as some people insist it can do. Hint: it can't.' _________________ Eagle It can't? Are you talking about this specific vehicle or are you saying it can't happen at all?
  10. I don't know how long your MJ has been out of action, but if its been a while, your tires may have developed some flat spots, especially if their bias ply, which can also cause shimmy (temporary)!
  11. I would also check the tires, they may be out of balance. A loose track bar can cause shimmy as well.
  12. 75$ = Great deal!! Very nice looking to. If ya really wanta trick it out a bit, you could paint to match your Comanche :-D .
  13. kidkusu, very nice looking ride. What are you trying to say here, confusing.
  14. I concede ! Still wanna see similarly equipped ones go head to head though. Haha!
  15. I didn't think the dakota had a V-8 in 86. What i meant to say was lining up a dakota (86 2WD manual tranny with V-6) vs a MJ (86 2WD manual tranny with V-6) and run em side by side :-D . BTW, the dakota was introduced in Oct 86 as an 87 model.
  16. Ah, but which was the fastest, most powerfull between the two :!:
  17. Yea, there nice, but just think about how much they will cost and forget about working on em yourself. Oh well, as the saying goes, if you can afford to spend that much, you can pay someone else to fix em.
  18. Mine is  ! No disrespect CWLONGSHOT, you make a valid point. I just like having the access without taking it on/off...on/off....
  19. Couldn't agree with you more, mine is sitting along side the house taking up space. :-D
  20. You may want to try eBay, good luck.
  21. Best paint job and matching flares that i have seen. It would be nice to see it in person, see what other mods he did... I did see it on one of the other boards, said the tires were 33's. They look like 35's to me

    Newbie

Now you have a very nice forum to go along with your MJ. As far as not seeing many, the production numbers pretty much tell how rare they are, compared to XJ's... :D

    Spiders :)

Except for all the black widows lurking around my place. Suffice it to say that if any of those little ...turds invade my space, it'll be a special day for em indeed  !
  24. Good idea, I'll probably wire similar. Its good to be able to manually operate the fan :-D
  25. Glad to see your MJ problem fixed. BTW, how did you test the diode? I can't find how from the FSM.
