I never even thought of doing this untill that sketch, but it is way cooler than building "another 4x4". I'm going to talk to an automotive interior shop tomorrow on pricing and I'm starting to find hub adapters/spacers fro the rims, hopefully tax time is fruitfull enough to get the rims.

minuit, these where not my original plans for the truck until neohic made that sketch. I am going to roll with it because my true passion is vw's and the euro car community (although I am looking for another mj to make a dd/trail rig now). I have posted build thread on a few of the vw/euro forums I am a regular on and there seems to be a good amount of people exited about this build. I think even the jeep community will like it. oh and I've come to the conclusion I am going to bag the truck, as much as I am a static drop diehard, air makes alot more sense with the truck and the incline of my driveway/condition of some of the roads within 2 miles of my house.

after my gps taking me to the rong road entirly I go treally pissed and drove like a bat out of hell the 20 miles it took me to get home from the middle of no where. I really missed having a 5th gear as the gearing really ate the gas up. another reason the diesel swap will me very nice

build sheet so far, 16" RMl snowflakes interlagos plaid bench seat, headliner, and door cards thats all I had time to figure out while I was at drill.

doesn it have ball joints and control arms or spindles and a solid beam suspension...this is hard to explain to those that have not lived in vw's for the past 20 years (through out my entire life at least one person has driven a vw)

here is the latest spot of information about the hpa vw tdi conversion for the jeeps. Scott, We haven’t made any headway with the XJ/MJ platforms. We are still wrapping up on the JK. One of our staff members here just purchased an XJ so we’ll look at abducting it for some testing purposes however this probably will not happen until spring when he can be without the Jeep. Still have you on file as soon as any updates happen I’ll be sure to let you know. GREAT NEWS!!!!!

changing the headlights woudl be to much imo, plus then I would have to custom make a grill. keep in mind, it is still a jeep, therefor requiring a light bar and at least 70% jeep look. I am going to start making hard plans this wednesday at ym weekly vw club meeting. on that note, the front suspension is done with control arms and not a beam (early vw bugs and busses) correct?

I noticed what you where saying abotu doing the mode to the header panel after looking at a few factory photos, I think I will have to do this because it is basically my only option.

there is a camp ground abotu 20 minutes from my house that has a giant shopping cart powered by a built v8, the passenger compartment is hte basket and the drivers seats is where a child would normally sit.

I think I would actually mod the hood anyways so it has no lines, seemless hood would look better than the hood then a line, then the drop down.

I read that, seems liek you did it fairly fast to. when I first say that I read caddy and got really exited because I have never seen a vr6 in a rabbit truck. first up on this mod list is boser hood/hid's. is our hood the same as the xj hood, don't want to go wrecking the only one I have now incase I mess up.

yes I am on vortex, under the same screen name. I'm more into the mk1's and mk3 jettas, so I'll keep the doors but convert them to pop-out vent windows, go mk2 door handles, boser hood, I'v enever been sold on the single wiper because I have never actually seen one in action to tell how it out be in a dd status, no skirts, 16 or 17 max on the snowflakes, interlagos plaid bench, ah heck, interlagos plaid headliner also, I've been tossing around the idea of making a custom dash out of 22 g.a. stainless with a 2b finish (do grain directionality, more of a dull finish), and I am working on the guys up in canada that did the tdi yj (91 even) to do a tdi mj, if they get the interest they will be doing the kit for the xj, yes smoothed (deleted) bumpers with euro plate, and rolled fenders.

yes RML. I'd go 16 biggest, I like a good amount of tire on my wheels. as far as the boser hood I was thinking of yanking one of an old xj at the junk yard and welding the mod on there. shave the bumpers down smooth....this is a nice idea, now I need another mj so I can make my offroading truck.

I actually work in madison about 5 minutes from main campus. problem is majority of all thsoe chicks (and guys) are hardcore democrats that only understand things the way they want to and that is totally opposite from my views.

that'd be the show. the guy in the grey t-shirt in the background of the pic with the chicks, is the guy who runs the entire show. last year he started to allow other makes on an application basis and only if he felt it had enough of the euro style in it.

haha, just go all out euro on the poor old jeep. then I could show it at the big euro car show I go in the minneapolis every year.

I am officiall yjealous of ya'll, the bar has been raised on where I need to set my standards to keep of with everyone here in the gf/wife department, lol. I'm finding very fast that it is very difficult to find a gf when you live in a super small town with less than 5 females under 30.
