  1. If you look at the pic it looks like there might be a crack on the flange under the black cap looking thing. Unless thats just something against it.
  2. When I look at my truck from the front the passenger side wheel looks to be straight but the driver side wheel looks to be turned out. What could cause this? ball joints? wheel bearings?
  3. cancel. I am blind
  4. When you turn the key to start does the truck start then stall when you release the key to run or does it just not start?
  5. I was just on ebay and saw some J10's (didnt realize jeep had another pickup. I'm still a Newbie). They had some nice buckets(40/60) with the fold down armrest. Would they fit in my comanche if I could find some? Would it require alot of fabbing?
  6. Thanks, I thought i read it somewhere on here but couldnt find it with the search (probally because cigareete was abreviated). So I just have to remove the trim around the dash cluster access it?
  7. Is that little green ring around the cigarette lighter supposed to light up? If so, what do I need to do? Where is the bulb?
  8. If i read correctly the 242 has more splines. Does this mean you also need to swap the DS or is it a direct swap?
  9. The problem most seem to have is that the temp sensor for the elec. fan is on the radiator on the closed system and not on the open. I think this is why you need to change the thermostat housing. But I havent seen a thread where anyone has got the fan to work yet although BLHTAZ I think is working on something now. After looking at mine yesterday I noticed that if you don't have AC there is no elec fan and no temp sensor on the radiator. So if you don't have ac I don't think you need to swap the stat housing or worry about the sensor for the elec fan
  10. These are the Nappa part #'s: 715-1367 715-1366 715-1365 I just bought the parts too but haven't put them in yet. Which grommet doesn't seat properly? the one on the front or back of the valve cover? Does the 88 have a PCv valve?
  11. What is the backspacing on factory rims?
  12. The problem people seem to be having the conversion to the open system is the temp sensor is not on the open/conversion radiator. That is what kept me from converting. Since I don't need the sensor since I don't have AC maybe I will convert the system. If I convert will I then need two fans? If my new radiator has the temp sensor plug on it should I return it for the one without or will it be OK to use it? Thanks for the help. Jim
  13. It is an 89 4.0 with no AC MY radiator finally went. I went to put it in today and noticed that the radiator thats in there now does not have a plug for the temp sensor. It just has the lower radiator hose and one tranny line at the top and one at the bottom. Where it looks like the sensor would be it just has a round thing (like a small neck about .5" and if i put my finger in it thre is nothing, just flat metal). Then I noticed that I only have one fan. Thats the problem, now the questions. Isnt there supposed to be two fans? Should I just put the new radiator in even though it has the connector for the temp sensor plug on it? I figure that the plug that goes into the radiator is on the fan and thats why I can't find it. Should I get an electric fan from the JY or just leave it with the one? It has never overheated on me. Sorry for the long post. Jim
  14. I had the same problrm on the exhaust of an old car before. I put the locking nuts on with the plastic washer in them and it finally stayed on. I think the plastic washer melted and held it from coming loose.

  16. Its only somewhere around 10 miles. I will see what happens when I add the coolant. If it stays in I will try it. If it is leaking I will have it towed. Thanks
  17. I noticed a few weeks back that I needed a new radiator. This one is all rotted away but I was hoping it would survive till warmer weather. Today I get to work and anti-freeze all over the ground. The fins in the radiator are all missing. The idiot light never came on so I don't think it actually overheated (This is why I need to swap a cluster with gauges). Think if I put some antifreeze in I can drive it home?
  18. Thanks Pete
  19. If I have an 89 4.0 automatic what tranny do I have? Thanks
  20. i suggest a MOPAR part... i used an offbrand and ended up doing it again. it worked the second time. i think the mopar seal was like 3 dollars more or something. DEFINITELY worth it. go factory with all important stuff I read on another post a little while back that they no longer had the double lipped ones. Could have been wrong info. I don't know for sure.
  21. I found this and thought some people might need it as alot of people seem to ask where to find them. I have not tried all the links. http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/manual.html
  22. Are you asking about the plastic bottle back on the firewall? If so...yes...I just plugged the bottom hole and ran a rubber hose from the radiator to the nipple on the end of the tank to use it as an overflow. It's working fine so far. No, I was referring to the ends of the radiator. If you could take the end off the original radiator that has the sensor port on it and swap it with the end on the new radiator. I know some radiators if the end cracks you can just replace the end instead of the whole radiator.
  23. You can buy a seal with a double lip. Thet have them on napa.com
  24. Is it possible to switch the tank from the original radiator to the new open system one?
  25. Madxj.com has a great step by step on doing the ball joints in the tech articles section. They use adjustable ball joints but the process is the same. They also show a great technique for removing the axle seals.
