Why is my truck being a bitch?
maddzz1 replied to aerocorey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a similar problem but not exactly the same. The solution to mine was a bad wire behind the battery next to the fusible link. I'm not sure exactly which wire because I finally brought it too a auto electronics shop. -
I think someone posted a little while back that there is a new website dedicated to strokers. Ill do a search and see if i can find it. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/strokers/ http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/stroker.html I think they have a regular forum now but i can't find it. will post back if i can.

Where is the oil return? When I pull my valve cover to clean it I will check this too (although I do not have the oil in filter problem). What else should I clean out on the head while i have the cover off?
-
Could it be coming out of the distributor and leaking down? (I think jeepco jusy had this problem) Or maybe bad o rings on the oil filter mount.
-
Looks like a pretty nice truck. If it was closer I would go check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-COM ... enameZWDVW

I was going to try the champion truck plugs. But instead bought the OEM ones. One more job to do this week. Its great to have a project to do on your jeep.

Alright, I didnt see where he sais stud. Thats why I'm taking it out. I am trying to install a rustys air tube. Thanks.
-
The problem is thats the bolt that holds the air tube in place. Is there any way to get a wrench on the bottom bolt head?
-
I am trying to install my air tube and the nut at the bottom back of my air box just spins. I can't figure out how to get to the bolt to put a wrench on it so i can get the nut loose. It looks like it would be in the wheel well like the nut at the front of the air box. It looks like it is behind the metal that flairs down around the shock

My oil pan leaks out of where the drain plug is. I got one of these. You put it in and turn the wing nut and it pulls down and seal on the inside kinda like a wall anchor. Good or bad? Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

Is the sending unit bottoming out on the tank? or the filter or the float hitting on something?
-
Check out this link and read the 11th post down. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... nding+unit What brand is it? There is also something about needing to switch parts around on the bosch replacment in that thread
-
I remember reading that there are two different sending units. I forget if the other is for the 2.5 or what. I think they gave you the wrong one. You need to exchange it for the correct one. I think in the other thread the guy just needed the fuel pump so he switched it to the original sending unit. I will look for the other thread and post back if I can find it.

Installed new rad. Look at pics of old one
maddzz1 replied to maddzz1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Pete. No I stayed with the closed system. -
I installed my new radiator: I have heard everyone say that the closed system can trap air and lead to overheating. I let the truck run for about a half hour and I didnt have any leaks or overheating. Should I be allset or is there still a chance it will start overheating? The new one: Can someone make these non clickable Image Not Found The old (yes, you can see right thru it)

Hornbrod, It worked perfect. Thanks
-
I used it today (the shellac) when I put my new stat in. No leaks so far. With the black rtv do you put it on both sides of the gasket?
-
Alright, Ill proballt post again later to ask how to use the repair kit.
-
I accept cash or money order, no checks. ;) Thanks for the quick help. Trying to get this done before it drops back to single digit temps.
-
Then that piece will just slide on over the elbow on the new radiator? Thanks, I was just about to cut the line behind the clamp ans use a hose clamp to attach to the new radiator. This is why this site rocks. You can find out how to do things correctly instaed of half-a**. To bad the previous owners didnt know about it.
-
I have always just used the gasket shellack (in the brown bottle). Is it better to use the blue RTV?
-
I took the nut all the way off the elbow doent move.
-
I added pics. If you look at the second pic, it doesnt unscrew. If I unscrew that nut on the radiator the little elbow piece is part of the rad. It is also like that on the new rad. In the first pic there is also one of those crimped over the hard tranny line.
-
The lower transmission line connects to the radiator with some hose that has a metal fitting that has a silver collar that is crimped over it and the rubber hose. It is similar to the ones on the lines that run to the heater and the pressure bottle. How do I get it off? I am trying to replace the radiator. Do I need to buy a new one after? can I just buy some hose and use hose clamps? If I buy a new one what tool do I need to crimp the silver metal piece? Can someone make these click free. Thanks
