Here is a couple of shots from yesterday at the Badlands. My comanche still isn't repaired so I took my parts rig Cherokee Chief. 1st one is me and my buddy fixing my tie rod that I bent, and second one is a picture of a couple of us in one of the bowls playing tag Image Not Found Image Not Found

Looked like a good deal, sorry you missed it. BBC

Very good idea! :hmm: never though of doing that... Good way to find stuff that really isn't for sale. Not everybody does eBay and Craigslist yet. Make it as easy as you can for people, and it pays off. Most people have stuff to sell, don't want to take the time to list an ad, have people calling them all times of the day for a cheap item. Has worked well for me in the past on other things as well. :D BBC

I don't like you BILLY_BOTTLE_CAPS!!!! :headpop: lol Wish I could run up on a deal like that! Nice find. I put an ad in our local Shopper saying wanting to buy Jeep Cherokee running or not cash paid. I ran it for 3 weeks for $12. This was the first call I got. They wanted $750, worked them down to $300. Think I am going to let the ad run the next 2 weeks just to see what may turn up. BBC

I would like to see a flatbed. don't see a design you like, do your own, it is quite apparent you have the skills. I am sure it will look great no matter which way you go though. BBC -
Just picked up a 1987 Cherokee Chief yesterday for $300! Has the 4.0 and 5-speed, may wheel it a time or two, then use the axles to get the Comanche up and going again. Image Not Found[/url]

I just bought this a couple weeks ago, and have already taken it to the Badlands to have a little fun :D I ended up destroying the stock D35  rearend, and I broke the right front axle while playing in the sand  . Great site, it has already helped me out a lot. It has the 4.0 5-speed, and I am currently looking at a Cherokee parts rig so I can steal the axles from it to get it going again. Broke Today at the Badlands
Billy_bottle_caps replied to Billy_bottle_caps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the tip! I will just look and see what the spline count is and go fromt there. Bill easiest way to tell is by the year/tranny. a 1990 aw4 will have 21 spline all years from 91+ aw4 will have 23 spline a ba10 manual will have 21 spline (89 changes to the ax15 and if you have ax15 it will be 23 spline) Great at least now I know what to look for at the Pick N Pull! Thanks! BBC -

Broke Today at the Badlands
Billy_bottle_caps replied to Billy_bottle_caps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I stripped the ring gear and or the spider gears in the sand. It would still pull itself using only the front wheels till I got to the trailer and then there was a pop sound, and I had nothing. Moved the lever 2H 4H 4L, nothing in any of them. Do driveshafts moving at all. Hopefully just broke the chain in the t-case. Bill -

There's a chain in there which is what drives the front axle. You still should have power to the rear axle with a broken chain No didn't have anything at the end. Bill -
Just got home from the Badlands about an hour or so ago. Had a great time but broke a couple things  I was playing in the sand having a good time , and the rearend let go. Stock Dana 35 that with a welded diff. Knew they wen't that strong but didn't think I would break one in the sand with just 235's on! drove it out of the sand and by the time I got back up to the trailer, I think the t-case let go, cause I had no forward or reverse motion. Never had a MJ t-case apart before, does is there a chain in there? Do they tend to break or come off? Thanks for any input. Bill

XJ axle on an MJ
Billy_bottle_caps replied to Chase The Hero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just got back from the Badlands an hour ago, and my D35 rear gave up the ghost as well. I am looking for an upgrade. I don't know what ratio my rear axle is, and i didn't see a tag on it. the 8.8 Ford sounds interesting which is tougher the new Chrysler 8 1/4 or the Ford 8.8? BBC -
