WahooSteeler replied to BLHTAZ's topic in The Pub
Yeah, look at what we did for JT and Gobs just for their girls to win some silly prize, and we don't even like those guys! Just think what we'd do for an actual forum member! Oh yeah.........we don't like you either! :rotfl2: ;) -

I hate $#!& like that! I'm the type I would have walked out and found another shop after any of those comments. I'm paying you to paint it, not to give me your effin opinion! -

And the better suspension you plan on putting on. I think it looks cool with the long bed. But cool don't win races brutha! And on the diff, it should be a D35 and they're not know for durability. But if you swap it out for something with discs, as already mentioned, a Ford 8.8 is probably the best way to go unless you find a Cherokee with a D44 under it. Just don't get another D35 from under a Cherokee. You'll have disc brakes, but still a weak diff. -
Excellent info gentlemen, thanks for the input. Looks like Teraflex runs @$150+, so like C-Dub says, $50 is cheap piece of mind for a solid product.

XJ springs are shorter and have a flatter arch. You can still use a cherokee rear and just move the mounting plates to re-use your MJ springs. -
Jeff, I dropped the bomb on wifeypoo yesterday. Not as bad a reaction as I thought, but we have a wedding to go to Sat. night the 20th. Assuming we will start moving your "stuff" Sat. a.m., good chance I'll still make it down, I just won't get to pop back as many sodas as I had planned since I'll need to leave early afternoon. Now it depends on how much packing/loading I get done for vacation on Friday night. :brows:

Dude, I will hunt you down and beat the crap out of you if you don't stay active on this forum with pics, vids, and a project thread! Absolutely awesome! I will live vicariously through your posts! Hitting the Dukes of Hazzard horn in mid power slide, well, all I can say is that was classic. Welcome, and seriously, don't be a stranger! -
Thanks for all the great info guys, my edubacation continues! Don, I would definitely guess my steering box is the issue of play, I'm pretty certain it's the original......with 214k on it. I will also need to do a set of the offset ball joints when I get around to this stuff. The front tires look a little duck-footed \ / at standstill.
-
Sorry, Zipe, I'm at a loss on that one. With the @3" of lift and 31s I've put on, steering has gotten a little loose. I plan to add another .5-.75" up front and knew I should get an adjustable trackbar to help clean that up, so this is new tech territory for me. I haven't even checked out my stock one as far as specs and such.
-
Pros and cons of either? Don't know much about this stuff.......
-
And don't forget the $25 5/8" drill bit you'll have to buy (if you don't have one) to drill out the frame hole.   I know I have 1/2", not sure about 5/8's. The old man probably does though. Meh, if I don't have one, that would be an unavoidable cost with any trackbar I bought, I guess.
-
 Jumped the gun again looking for the quick and easy answer instead of THINKING for an extra 5 secs and thinking of it myself. Thanks Pete! Heim joint is $25 from RE, "Hardware replacement kit" is also $25. Worst case then I'd probably have $100 in it, $75 if just need the heim joint. :dunno:
-
I might have found a good deal on a RE1600 track bar, but the seller says it might need new heim hardware. How much would that cost me so I can figure in to total cost? Thanks.........

I am all ears. I have factory radio and speakers and would love to improve on them wo spend too many bucks! I'm no expert, this is just what worked for me. phenry has a similar setup with a 4900 series deck, and i believe he is running 4 speakers and the sub. goblazers also has a similar setup with a 4700 series deck running 4 speakers and no sub. we all got the deck off of ebay or craigslist for well under $100. speakers you've got even more options. in addition to ebay etc., wal-mart/target/kmart has off-brand speakers for the door for $30+ and even pioneers for $40-45 usually. For the sub you also have lots of options. 8" dual voice coil bazookas are easier to come by than 6" if you don't mind giving up a little more space, or you can always buy a dual voice coil (or single if it's rated for 2 ohms) component sub and build or buy a box for it. Again, this is just one way to get what you want and I'm sure there are other brand decks/speakers/subs with similar capabilities. I've been out of the car stereo loop for awhile and with a little research found this to be a super flexible and capable setup. If you go with the pioneer deck and want the capability to run the sub off the deck (i.e. no extra amp), it needs to be a 3000 series or higher deck. To keep the cost down it just takes a little patience for the right deal to come along. If you are checking out a deck, you can confirm it's specs at either crutchfield.com or pioneerelectronics.com. And if you get a used deck and it doesn't come with the manual, you can download from pioneer. More info in this thread link below, page 3. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12613&p=128693&hilit=pioneer#p128693

factory wiring should be in place for everything I am almost certain. then it's how much do you want to spend. there are lots of ways to get some really good sound for very little money in that cab.
-
2.35-2.45 at the moment. really pissing me off that it's back up to mid $2's. $2-$2.20 I can handle in my mind, after that it starts to piss me off.

bonus footage.... in-car cams, roof cams, wheel cams, carnage

I'm sure somebody else will have something better, but I had a nasty one attach itself recently and Avira Anti-Virus popped it right off. Worth a try maybe.........good luck. http://download.cnet.com/windows/

Jeffers, I assuming if all goes according to plan it will be SATURDAY, not Sunday the 21st, correct? Well, I thought we were leaving on Saturday the 20th, but it's Sunday the 21st. Soooooo, this will probably go over with a ton of bricks with wifeypoo, but I'm gonna do all I can to make it. I'll just need to get some packing done Friday evening etc. And hell, if all goes well Saturday a.m., I could be back before sunset and just pack up Saturday. With the size of the crew you got coming, nobody should be that tired. Everybody, as he said in the first post, it'll be a good time and he'll stuff you with good food and cold beverages. Oh, and I better get my tail lights fixed since it might be dark on the ride home. And my A/C, might be a tad hot.

How do you change your oil?
WahooSteeler replied to comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for setting the record straight. I guess I should stop using bacon grease in my engines since it's different than motor oil. I did not know that. :dunce:
