  1. yea, i could do that, i think what i will do though is upgrade to a heavier duty frame mount. ive had the hardest time trying to get the castle nut to go on enough to get a cotter pin through the hole. i think my frame bracket i have now is bad or something.
  2. talked to rustys this morning. they said it happened because the jamb nut was loose. i kept trying to tighten the dam thing. but the instructions say to use lock tight, and i didnt. so I'm out on that one.
  3. very nice and clean!! way to go
  4. the thing is, i can barley see the start of the hole, id need to go three or four more full revolutions to get the pin in. is it ok to tighten it that tight?
  5. got it from rustys along with the adj control arms. i wonder what thier warranty is?
  6. yeeeaaa, sarcasm is just what i need when i can't drive my truck til i spend more money ;)
  7. I'm not sure how i did it. i wish i had done it wheelin hard, but no. i put the track bar on about a month ago and havnt had it on dirt since. i was turning out of the drivway and snap!!! when i installed it, i couldnt get the hole to clear for the cotter pin, so i used a washer, turned the castle nut upside down, then checked it alot to see if i could tighten it more or not. it never loosened up. that is the only trouble i had with the bar. did i do something wrong when i installed it??? another thing, since this is tie rod end related. when i tightened down the tie rods today, i did the whole front end steering. why is it, when i tightened down the tie rod ends to 55 foot pounds, one of them didnt screw on enough to put the cotter pin in. thats exactly what the track bar did as well. also it sure doesnt seem like 55 foot pounds if very tight.
  8. there is always this
  9. fast is good :D beers for everyone!!! my fast one is a 06 mini cooper supercharged, thing takes corners real well! that was my last project :D no one would see a fast jeep comin thou, element of suprise :brows:
  10. hornbrod, not sure which ones i have, thick or thin. ill measure them when i pull em out and let you know.
  11. Ill have some in about a week if u can wait. Ive got upper adj. Coming this week so ill pull the lower shims out when i adjust them at the same time i do my uppers. I have adh lowers
  12. dam that looks stout!! ill start the researchin' id love to have that set up. hummmm D44 or new stearing........ i keep thinking i need to get everything done right now. ive got alongggggg time. its sunday, ill drink a another beer and think about it whilst i stare at the mj. ;)
  13. i remember when i walked out of there, he said "being this is jacked up, we won't warrenty the alignment." that same thought crossed my mind, it doesnt make any sense why they wouldnt let me know things were bad. I'm no expert by any means, but when i grab a tie rod and i can move it in and out with my hand, something is wrong. ill ask him about it when i go in again, if they arent willing to work with me, then ill take it somewhere else. thanks for the heads up
  14. its been awhile since ive posted, but the work hasnt stopped. mostly just trying to figure stuff out. i got the mj aligned and still have death wobble, so ive been trying to figure that one out. ive discovered the tie rod ends are shot, all of them! so i ve ordered new ones which should be in on monday. i was thinking about going with a heavier duty system, but the funds don't agree with me at this time. so thats that. the next thing is i bought a angle finder to check castor. I'm at about 12* right now. so this morning i ordered new adj upper control arms. while i was at it, i also ordered the bracket from rocky road to move the sway bar bracket forward about an inch. I'm getting there, but the road is long. can't wait to get this death wobble gone. between the caster angle and the tie rods, i may have it worked out. then get new tires and start working on my bucket seats. being a newbie is a tuff road, if it wasnt for this forum i would have spent alot more money and not had near as much fun. thanks again everyone
  15. cw, you are full of usefull info. wish i could wrench with you, id learn more in a day then ive learned this year.
  16. good call.
  17. why the wj knuckle swap? yea, you got good taste man. i just priced out an over the knuckle cross over. wheeew, the lady was trippin when i told her the oem parts were $150 i may just have to do that for now. i think I'm a couple grand deep this month on parts. been a good month, can't wait for dec. :D
  18. i need a 2nd mortgage :D your right, ill go with the adj. uppers. it looks like my tire is dead center in the wheel well. if i make the uppers longer will it just rotate the axle? or will it still push the tire forward more. this is if i don't touch the lowers.
  19. if i was on the other tire it would be the other way like his. I'm on the drivers side on the outside of the tire looking in.
  20. looks like 12-13* here is my caster angle. I'm pretty sure thats not good. so i think my only option is to get adj. uca's isnt that the only way ill get it to 5-7* i currently have adj. lowers hhmmmm i wonder if this may be part of my death wobble?
  21. well, as of now. I have 5 1/2" in front and 4 1/2 in the rear with soa. I'm currently running acos with 3" springs in front. I would like to go higher, and i do have chevy drop shackles and 4.5" springs sitting in the shed. I just want to see how my current lift works with 33" tires. if i feel good about the set up. ill be putting the other stuff up for sale. Future plans do include a d44 as i am running the stock d30 d35 axles. :D still trying to talk the lady into the tires, maybe next month. but i do need to get the steering thing figured out now because of the d/w
  22. if you get it, show us some pics

    nice truck man!!!
  24. so ive had death wobble since i lifted my mj. i thought it was the track bar for awhile because i couldnt get the castle nut on far enough to put the cotter pin through. well i finally got under the truck and had the girlf turn the steering wheel. to my horror, ive realized all my joints have alot of play in them. they twist on the ball like they are suppose too, but i can pull the joints in and out pretty easy with my hand. so do i go get new tie rod ends for the whole front end, or do those kits with 1 1/4 tubing and i think they say cross over, make that much of a difference. what are your guys thoughts on this.
  25. some people at work have been raving about these mini copters, so i went a got a couple. dam they are fun , why didnt they have these when i was a kid? here in cali they run $30
