$3.27 today. It's amazing how the south is short on gas but our prices keep dropping, yet when Katrina hit almost the same area our prices flew up one dollar  It's a conspiracy. I'm not even going to get into the alien thing right now :rotfl2:

I liked the woodgrain. -
I'm not really a big fan of them but any Subaru will get over 20 MPG, used ones are relatively cheap, their reliable, and do very well up to about a foot of snow.

I wanted to agree that this is extremely true. I'm the first one to bring up that my political or religous views do not in any way belong on this forum but what we hear or see on the news is not the story. Yes, it is based on factual information, however 90% is far from the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

You know Eagle, I keep voting for myself every election but no one ever seems to call me to let me know I won. PM me your real name and I'll write you in if your serious about running. If your serious about winning I'll even run your campaign free of charge until we get you in office :D

I agree with Simon for most of what he says. I'm one of the small shops going under because of the domino effect that the problems on Wall Street have caused. I don't like it either but let the government send out the 700 billion. In economics it's a non-tangible. That money isn't even real. Are your taxes going to go up? Yes, but to be honest you're not going to notice it as much as you will notice how the economy falls if they don't "bail them out". The only real people getting hurt by Wall Street's mistakes besides themselves is the small guy. Cet summarized it for you. It's happening as we speak and will get worse. And anyway if you don't think you should pay higher taxes because of their mistakes, then don't pay what you don't think you should. It's completely legal and possible to make up the amount that you think is your fair share of the pie. -

You're exactly correct homey, I was going to ask :D But do you think it could be the cause of this noise? Of course with a correct diagnosis I would have to pay your 65.99 fee :D That B and I'm going to need that front seal between the balancer and the block. What's fuct is I just had it replaced about a year ago right before I found this site. I bought the balancer off of E-bay at Part's Warehouse or something like that. I'm going to check my records but I'm betting it was made in China! What's the official name of that seal (is it Front Main Seal) and can you just PM with the total fer both so I can pay ya? Oh, and last question. Should I stop driving the truck to avoid any further damage until I change the balancer out? -

chicofuentes0224 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hi kids. I'm still working on this noise which is getting worse. Now it's doing it at idle, when I accelerate from a dead stop, or come around a corner. Tried all the tricks mentioned earlier to diagnose where the noise is coming from but I can't pinpoint it. Here's what I did see though. When the noise happens you see the harmonic balancer do strange things. How strange? Well imagine the front wheel on the balancer. If you're looking at it staight on there is an outside ring and an inner ring. Remember the video of me blipping the throttle? At the point I do that the outside ring actually moves out toward the radiator while the inner ring stays put. That's not normal right? Now remember, I know nothing about the internal workings of a combustion engine, but isn't that balancer connected to something (crankshaft I think) and couldn't the slop of the balancer coming apart maybe cause whatever it's connected to to hit something that it's not supposed to inside the engine? I know I'm not using the correct terminology here but I'm starting to think something in the lower end of the engine is @#$%ed. Guys, opinions, comments, or am I just off my rocker here? -
When you had them balanced did they mention if the wheels were perfectly straight or the tires out of round? I guess you could check it yourself by jacking up the truck one corner at a time and have someone spin them as fast as possible while you watch. I had similar problems and it ended up being two wheels were bent. Or also did you try and rotate the wheels to differnt locations to see if it made a differnce in vibrations at all?

Mitch, what happened to the last one you did?

If you have a real long screwdriver put the tip up anainst various parts of the engine and the handle up to your ear, usually you will be able to trace odd noises. Does that really work? -
Dude I promise you if I ever get out of the finacial disaster I'm in right now with this shop, going to the Badlands with you guys will be the first trip/vacation w/o family I take

Edit comepletely disregard my whole last post. I read the size engine wrong :wall:

Hi and wait on buying that man. I have absolutely no experience on an 86 2.8 but if you run a search on here a lot of people have complained about the engine and gotten rid of the truck or swapped out the engine. I definitely don't want to stop you from buying a Comanche but you might want to spend a little time on this forum and read back thru some earlier posts that have come up about the 2.8. I'm not telling you to read every single post back to 2006 (I don't know who would do something stupid like that  ) but I do suggest you do a little research on this site before jumping into buying anything. I wish I had found this site before I bought my truck. Hey welcome and good luck.

Yeah, well I had one of those stethoscopes from that kid's game "Operation" but all I hear is the engine rumbling. :rotfl2: I'm just kidding. That's a good idea. I'm heading out for the week and I doubt I'll have an internet connection but I'll try that as soon as I get back  -

Hollowed out the cat guys. No change in noise  The good news is I think the truck acclerates faster now. Only drove it about 1 mile and a half. Not sure if it'll make a differnce on my running hot problem yet. Anybody got any other suggestions on the original noise. I'll get a better video up then :D -
