pingpong Posted May 27, 2008 Share Posted May 27, 2008 XJ shocks can work up front, but not in the rear. I would suggest that you buy a set of bayonet elimantors for the front. This maked the front a hoop to hoop setup, which greatly increases your shock choices. They only cost about 30 bucks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I first got my MJ I used it and picked up a set of new NOS Toyota Land Cruiser shocks on Ebay for cheap, and they worked perfectly, although a bit stiff. I like Amazon too, but their free shipping is usually built into the selling price. I went down my list looking for NOS shocks on Ebay one by one, and found the Toy Land Cruiser rear set for $21 shipped. Didn't want to spend a lot of $ since I knew I would be lifting soon. I tried to cheap out and put a set from an XJ into an MJ. With the truck sitting on the axles on jack stands (IOW at stock ride height), the shocks when fulley expended were 1/2" to 3/4" too short to span between the upper and lower mounting studs.
