A-man930
So I found a low-miles 8.25 out of a 2001 XJ. Just wanted to do a quick check and make sure I had everything down before I break out the welder. I'll need new spring perches on the correct side of the axle tube, and new U-bolts... let me know what I'm forgetting.

I'd replumb the brake lines while you're at it, and also check out the brakes. you'll need to reset your parking brake while you're doing this (loosen the cable, then reset once the drums are set) not a hard swap really. Pete M
I'll need new spring perches on the correct side of the axle tube, I assume you know, but I'm just making sure, the perches are also a different distance from each other in an MJ. Don't just weld the new ones directly below the old ones on the XJ axle.

A-man930
My buddy mentioned something about measuring the pinion angle before we put the new perches on?? And yea, I was planning on making sure I got them the right distance apart.

So would I have to cut off the pearches to fit the new ones or can leave them there?
Pete M
You might have issues with the U-bolts interfering with the old perches.
