Cabz
Well it has been about a month now with the 4.5" rustys front lift and 4" rear packs. The rear packs have finaly settled in and seem to work well The Front however is a diffrent story  I have a warn rockcrawler winch bumper on the front ( damn heavy it is  ) and when I first put the lift on she sat dead level. Well it seems the rear springs have settled about 1" so they are at 4" just as advertised. But the coils are damn near at 3" lift height and the drivers side sits 1" lower than the passenger side WTF  Has anyone else ever seen a coil spring settle/sag that quick? they only have 300 miles on them . also one of the lower controll arms has a bad bushing the bushing is sliding side to side on the inner sleeve ( I was wondering what the banging noise was ......... Now I know). And I have still to get the damn sway bay end link upper adaptor from them ( I don't plan on useing it , it;s just a matter of principal at this point. ) So far the rustys experience is at a 50/50 satisfaction rate , We'll see monday if that goes up or down. rejeep
this isnt the first time I have heard bad things about Rusty's.... Cheap fix is a 1" spacer... but it shouldnt have sagged that quickly... I had a set of RE coils in my ZJ with a V8 and ARB bumper that held the advertised 3.5" lift for 3 years, 60K, NYC driving.

Cabz
Cabz, what spring rating did you get? What ever they sent me :? I think they are 150lb springs? I told them I have a LWB MJ with the warn bumper and that I had a factory skid , So instead of the sway bar drop brackets I needed longer links. They sent the links only no sleeves and no top adaptors ( since they use a YJ style link on everthing )
Pete M
I have 180# and I love them. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue how much lift I actually got and have even less of a clue if I lost anything over the last 2 years. It's not something I've really paid attention to since the truck is pretty level front to back. If you have a heavy bumper, I think they should have sent you the 180s. I was mistaken the coils are 180lbers but the damn bumper wieghs about 150lbs without a winch , The coils are so compressed that you couldnt get a pinky in between any of them  I did tell them about the bumper I have , they even sell the same one . You would figure they know how heavy it is and would have told me what to do to comensate for the wieght

They billed/sent me a short arm kit the first time (should have just @#$%ing kept it) when I specifically said the long arm one 5 times. I also asked if there'd be any fittament problems with the LA kit and I got a "Nope, should just bolt right up". Right. After you rebuild half of it yourself. pingpong
When I was whopping for my LA's I asked every company I called if THEY had installed the product on a MJ yet. All of them said NO, SO I did a lil research, and found out what had to be changed on my own, and went the cheaper route, and have benn somwhat pleased with the results. I have been running Rusty's 6.5 coils for over 2yrs now and for over a yr I have had my winch bumper and winch on the front. Yes it has settled some, but not what everyone else id experiencing. I am suprised that your rear springs have settled that much all ready. That doesn't bode well for their longevity. MY alcan springs stil are stiff as $h!t, and I have over flexed them alot. As for not recieving all the product when it was shipped, I would have sent it all back, and said, "when you ship me a whole kit, I will accept it, till then I will keep my money" Patrick
Cabz
Well I talked with rustys today, They are sending a free control arm bushing for the one I have bad YEA  The guy I spoke with said the rustys 3.5 and 6" spring are 180lb springs but the 4.5 springs are 150lbers WTF? why is what I want to know He also said that what I should do for now is swap springs from side to side and see if that makes a diffrence. I am going to pull the springs and measure them and if they are diffrent . We are gonna have another talk
Cabz
Well here's the latest up date  I still don't have a replacement coil for the sagged POS I have on the DS , I still don't have sway bar end links that work ( built to long by the fine folks at rustys ) and the front of my MJ is sittting at 3" lift not 4.5 and to top it all off one of the rustys( Every male voice on the phone seems to be named rusty :headpop: ) Got about $#!&ey when I called for the 3rd time , because the last too times they said they shipped the spring and links they didnt. I am so pizzed I can't see straight
pingpong
If you paid by credit card you can file a complaint, and possibly get some remedy faster then what you are :papers: or you can do like everyone else does and bash them :deal: but then you will only get your self more worked up.. for nothing. In all seriousness, if it is within the period of time where your credit card will hold payment(ussually 90 days) I would try that. Also if they sent you items and you have not recieved them, ask Rusty's for a tracking number, maybe that ways you will be able to see if they have really sent it. BTW.. some ppl told you so

pingpong
Try contacting them in a nice polite way, and explain to them what your situation is. They might be receptive if you don't start with the bashing out the gate. Try contacting them by email as well. When all else fails report them to the better buisness bearau of their state and yours as well. Since it is involving interstate sale there might be some law to protect you... I just don't know on that. Moral of this story is.... Listen to ppl on the web and wiegh out what they say versus what you think you know.

Thats why I called them back when the stuff did not arrive. I don't know if it's still the case, but awhile back (a couple of years), Rusty's was famous/notorious for sending fake tracking numbers, or somehow getting tracking numbers in advance of making the shipment. So the customer would have a tracking number that showed the item was in AL, and the item was actually either sitting in Rusty's warehouse or hadn't even been fabricated yet. CWLONGSHOT
You can always stop payment on the check...... When I did mine, I was unsure as to what I would end up with for lift, so I went with the ACOS for the front. I have Rustys 3" coils and ACOS, I set for the ride height that looked best. The Drivers side is set higher than the pass so the Jeep sits level. The ACOS is very nice. You may want to look into them. CW

As far as listening to people on the web you can get 10 diffent opinions from ten diffrent people on any given day, so who says whos advise is right? Sometimes you gotta do like I did and learn the hard way. The only reasons why I got the rustys kit was beacuse I wanted the rear packs ( which are damn near perfect) and the fact that I had a set of 4.5" springs that I donated to a fellow jeepers project ( http://www.oramagazine.com/pastIssues/0 ... -name.html ) and they worked great and they where a few years old and had an @$$ load of trail miles on them. pingpong
I have a few Rusty's parts on my rig  wel auctually just a pair of very used and abused 6.5" coils. Needless to say I order one product from them 2 yrs ago and it took 3 weeks to get it, and it didnt work like it was suppose to in my opinion, so I sold it and stopped using it. If any one asks me about rusty's tie rod conversion I will tell them, butI won't bash it cause it didnt work like I felt it should. Your case is very different... you didnt get what you paid for. I would do as much as I could to try and get them to correct it, including suing them. Also when you ask ppl what they think of a product take it with a grain of salt. Most offroaders are going to give you an honest interpetation of the product or situation.
Eagle
Rusty's business model is an enigma, and his service is very sporadic. I know several people in my NAXJA chapter who have bought various items from him and never had a problem. I know some who have encountered nothing except problems, and who will never EVER buy another Rusty's product. Then there's the third group, who have had problems but they call and someone down there gives 'em a yarn and promises to make it all right, and they think Rusty is the greatest guy in the known universe. My own view is -- if he's such a great guy and good businessman, why doesn't he just be upfront when he's out of stock, rather than lie about when it'll ship? Why does he sell track bars with Chinese tie rod ends that wear out in less than a year on pavement, when for a dollar or two more he could use TRW or Moog TREs and have 'em last five times as long? Why does his powder coating rust if left outdoors for more than a few days? Doesn't he know it rains in a lot of the United States? Why do his springs, and basically ONLY his springs, have a reputation for sagging within a couple or three months? Heck, with Rubicon Express people complain about the opposite -- the springs are so stiff they almost never settle into the advertised height unless you run a heavy winch bumper AND winch. P. T. Barnum had it right ...
pingpong
There is a lot to be said for good customer service.... his reputation is that there isn't good customer service and that his products don't perform or last as long as they should. Moral of the story don't BUY FROM RUSTY'S Unless you want problems. CAn some one make this a sticky
