What do I need to know before I use this stuff? Do I need to pull out all of the old sealer and apply some fresh sealer? I'm spending a lot of money on sound dampening materials, so I don't want to make any mistakes here.
Pete M Posted Thursday at 10:28 PM Posted Thursday at 10:28 PM I would leave the seam sealer alone if there isn't any sign of rust. if there's any hint of rust at the edge of some sealer, I would use a wire brush on a drill or grinder to explore how far it goes. keep in mind that preventing water intrusion is the single most important step to preventing rot. the floors are complicated and you cannot rustproof every nook and crevice. heck, if it stays dry, you can leave it completely alone and it'll be just fine forever
