Question about tow mirrors

Seeing a comment in a wanted post for tow mirrors got me thinking.

I'm going to be installing a set in one of my projects.  But I don't have the plates for the inside of the door.  I will need to fabricate some replacement pieces.

Are those plates anything more than just some flat steel plate that are drilled and tapped for the screws?  And how thick are they?  Can I just use some 3/16" or so plate that I have lying around and just drill and tap it?  Anyone have a picture of them they can post?

Thanks.

I don't have pics but they are essentially sheet metal with some "dented" sections for rigidity, a couple bends to match the door contour where the mirror sits and 2 nuts welded on a 90 degree bend to mount through the holes in the bottom of the door.

Could be replicated, but I think getting all the holes to line up with the mirror mounts could be challenging.

I wouldn't run tow mirrors without the braces. After installing my tows, it became clear there is zero chance the door skin would handle the stress.
