Those old Sony pieces are funny like that, half the time the “outdated” adapter is built better than the shiny new bargain-bin stuff. Nice little upgrade, especially in a truck where every rattle and electrical gremlin is already trying to audition for the stereo. Curious which Sony unit you’re running in it, period-correct deck or just something that plays nice with the MJ wiring?

I was running an ihome cheapo cassette adapter before and it was really finicky. Researched a bit and found that the Sony CPA-7 was apparently one of the best ones made, with its production run beginning in the late 80’s and ending in the 90’s. It also has a super long aux cord compared to the cheap one.

 

When I opened the eBay package it smelled like it’s been sitting in a pawn shop for years

Considered that as well, I do miss the Bluetooth functionality of the alpine unit I had before but looks wise it can’t compare to stock.
