Faceted Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Anyone seen a stater like this?? I'm not sure how to assemble these shims or if the orientation matters. The stater wasn't covered in the manual I have. It attaches up vertically with 2 mounting bolts. 1986 2.8l v6, thanks.
watchamakalit Posted May 16 Posted May 16 I believe the shims will only fit one way due to their shape. The shims go between the starter and the block to help maintain the correct distance between the starter gear and flywheel.
llhat Posted May 16 Posted May 16 agree on GM appearance and rightly so. shims.. one side slotted for insertion, the mounting bolt on that side loosened to get clearance and still support starter, other side bolt removed completely, then inserted once shim is aligned.
