Tailgate Bench Seat

Has anyone built one of these tailgate bench seat ->

 

I have no experience creating anything out of wood. Do you think it’s possible for a guy with no woodworking skills to attempt it. I also should look into somebody who can do it for me? I would probably pay for the kit if it is being made out there

I've got a collection of photos snagged from the internet, but haven't made one of my own yet.  I'd wager there are blueprints online somewhere on how to make a sturdy bench and then you can mod it to accept the gate.

This is on my to do list but I first have to make a little patio for it, seems simple enough.

I always thought these look pretty uncomfortable. Some day id like to take the last few inches of an old bed and taillights and mount it to the wall, then have the tailgate drop down to form the bench with some upholstery on it. Then you can "park" the bench when you're not using it. I have the spare tailgates and lights, but I'm not ready to cut up a bed just yet.

Yeah Gonzo, they don’t look comfortable but it’s mainly a conversation piece. I have no carpentry skills, so it would be a challenge to build. I will search for a kit

but I now know a blueprint is available.

That plan uses pocket screws, a little more advanced  but there are many YT videos that just screw/bolt it together.

 

I also plan on making a table out of another tailgate to complete the set.

😆. Yeah, hanging the CJ grill in the shop I got into that. I ended up getting creative and using the original holes.
