after removing the rotted exhaust and drilling a 2" access hole in the side of my CRD Liberty's wheel well, I was able to use a Kobalt 3/8" bolt extractor to remove the rusty metric bolt that holds the CPS in.    tomorrow I'll try replacing the CPS and then work on the new exhaust.

Those arent special like the Renix CPS bolts are they?

looks like a standard torx bolt.  it spent a decade in the salt and had nothing left of the splines.   I intend to take it to lowes and see what exists in a stainless variety.

Congratulations on getting the stubborn bold out.  With torx, I have found that sometimes you can pound a 1 size larger torx bit into the hole and use it to drive out the bolt.
