CheepComanche
On Christmas night we had a wind storm that broke a very big branch out of the tree I park next to. It fell quite a distance landing on the cab of my truck, doing most of the damage to the roof just above the windshield. I’m very impressed with how little damage there appears to be for how heavy the branch was. Obviously the truck will need some body work to look good again but what I keep thinking about is the structural integrity of the a-pillars. I know it looks fine but it was a lot of weight landing on the roof and I’ve head the a-pillars are made of cheese and bend very easy. Just wanted to get some opinions, Thanks! ghetdjc320
Should be just fine. I doubt it damaged the inner roof skin. In order to affect the a pillars both the inner and outer roof structure would need to be damaged enough to pull the pillars in. For additional peace of mind, check your door gaps against the a pillars and see if you see a significant difference from before
CheepComanche
If there is a difference I can’t tell so it’s probably just fine and hasn’t changed. I know I’m just overthinking it. My mind gets to worrying. Thanks!
89 MJ
If the door gaps are fine, I’m sure it’s good to go. That looks like it might be able to be fixed with paintless dent repair.
M.T.Hands
I think it'll be fine, I know it does not feel like it, but I think you got lucky
gogmorgo
If it tweaked the windshield frame enough to distort it would crack the glass, or as pointed out the doors wouldn’t fit properly. The a-pillars of cheese thing is more of a concern when you land the truck on them. A branch falling on the roof gets to use the suspension to absorb some of the impact.
