speeding_infraction Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 My truck has an uneven idle and it will die when warm if I don't keep my foot on the gas. I believe it's running too rich. Is this a symptom of a bad IAC, and how do I test this? Done some of cruiser's tips.

cruiser54 Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 CPS will cause a no start, but not rough idle. Have you ever cleaned the throttle body and IAC?
speeding_infraction Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 I just replaced the O2 sensor to fix something else, didn't seem to have any effect on idle. It has been doing this since I replaced the fuel pump. I should clarify, the idle isn't terribly rough, but it sounds kinda like it has a lumpy cam in it. I've poured half a can of seafoam through the throttle body, never cleaned it properly tho. Some times when it's warm I have to give it throttle to open up the throttle body and get it some air.
Rick Lewis Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I am also having this prob with my 88 Jeep. I don't think it's the TPS again. I replaced the o2 Bosch 12009 yesterday and it ran great last night and to work today. Coming home today I stopped once for 15min and then it ran like crap again. Won't idle. I have to keep wrapping on the gas in neutral until the rpms are up and good then put it in drive to make it home.

speeding_infraction Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 I was able to reach all the bolts/nuts and they are all tight. When I unplug the IAC it's makes a loud hissing noise, that gradually disappears when I plug it in again. Does this mean that it is working?

speeding_infraction Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 I pulled the IAC valve and the o ring looked in good condition. The threaded pintle was just sitting inside the valve body.
