Classy Comanche Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Alright so I left work and went to go get gas. Paid 35 inside and then went to pump. At about 33 it shut off and I kept clicking the handle. Well that made gas overflow out l. So I panicked, hung the nozzle up and cleaned the side up. It ran good on the way home. I've done this only once and scared me when I did it. I didn't know if that would damage a component of some sort or anything with these trucks?
gogmorgo Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 It can damage paint if it overflows, especially recent paint. It can also force fuel into the vapour canister, which can wreck it and lead to it plugging up and causing issues. Otherwise the main concern is that you spilled a flammable liquid on your vehicle. There isn’t a ton back there to spark and set something on fire so the chance is low, but it’s still possible.
Classy Comanche Posted November 19, 2022 Author Posted November 19, 2022 Well I cleaned it up. Where exactly is the vapor canister? I kept looking online and I gave no idea where it's located. I looked near the fuel tank and never saw anything like it. I saw a fuel filter but that's it
gogmorgo Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 It would be up in the engine bay. Firewall on the passenger side. I wouldn’t be too concerned about it, it’s more of a constant overfilling concern than a one-time deal.
Classy Comanche Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Ah gotcha. Yeah it was only this one time. I was just being cautious. I'll still keep an eye on it. No gas smell in cabin. So I'm monitoring that. Thank you so much.
