Bald Eagle Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Has anyone installed the Thor or similar cold air intake? If yes, what has been your experience with this type of system? Does the intake box need to be sealed? What about noise and power changes?

Worked fine and added a bit of engine noise to the cab (present but not overly obnoxious to me). I don’t think it really added any power. Just noise and moved the intake a little higher up. Changing air filters was more of a pita.
Pete M Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 the factory stuff is already a cold air intake and is actually pretty good at its job. just be sure to remove that little restrictor donut and maybe the butterfly that helps it warm up faster.
ghetdjc320 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 I had the thor unit. It ditches the factory intake box so you do get some extra space there. Cab noise was a bit obnoxious. Maybe a slight power gain but it did seem to pickup maybe an extra mile per gallon. That was on a bored 4.0 though with cam, exhaust and aluminum head.
