1992EliminatorSWB4x4 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Wanted for my 1992 Comanche. Dana 44 rear end 3.55 gears complete with drums and serviceable condition. Can be open carrier or trac-lock or truetrack. Bill in Montgomery Alabama
Bill Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I was looking for a Dana 44 awhile back too and didn't have much luck in my area but I found East Coast Gear and ordered one from their website. You can even have them install rear disk brakes on it ( I did ) and you can choose the 3.55 gear ratio you want and even have them add trac-loc or whatever locker/limited slip you want. They do such a great job I think, the axle comes in a crate painted really nicely, the brake lines are already installed and all the seals and everything are new so it will be easy to install and trouble-free for many miles! They even included new U-bolts to install it. I am really happy with mine and thought I'd mention this option if you haven't found an axle yet.

Wait, did you order new axle shafts, or did they have an entire rear axle assembly on hand and just rebuilt it to spec? Thanks.
Bill Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 They sell both, complete MJ Comanche axles like what I bought from them and also just shafts if that's all you want. They have a great website to check out how much it is for what you want exactly. I thought their prices were very reasonable for what you get, especially after I received mine.
ghetdjc320 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 If you go with ECGS try to grab the “Dana 489” axle. It has the later larger ring and pinion in a 44 housing.
