I have an 88 comanche 4x4 with the 4.0 and a 5 speed. Now my problem is that the rear cab corners and the passenger rocker is on the way out. Aside from that and the bed being a rust pile, the truckis in decent condition. My question is is there a place that makes patch panels for the comanche? I really love this truck and would hate to see it rot away beneath me. And I was planning on putting a flatbed on the truck, so the bed is really of no concern.

If you build a flatbed, post pics! I'm still in the absorbing information/ideas stage before I build mine.

And I don't know of anybody that makes patch panels, but depending how bad it is I'd cut out the rockers and weld in square tube so you have rock proof rockers.

I've never seen cab corners, but I know there are rocker replacements out there somewhere. Don't know where I saw them (ebay maybe?) or of what quality they are. Other owners have taken their DC powered sawzall to the junkyard and scavanged off of MJs there. Or you can do like I did and coat the rockers in a poly bedliner and just ignore the rust that's behind it. :D

Let me rephrase. The passenger side rocker is pretty much gone. I've never seen an mj in a junkyard. In fact I've only ever seen 5 or 6 of them on the road in my entire life. Seems they weren't so poular in ri.

Have you tried car-part.com yet? Obviously "rockers" aren't in the list, but sometimes searching for other MJ-specific parts can give you leads. Rusty rockersw are a common problem though and chancess are any you find will not be much better. jcw.com might have the repair panels.

My rockers are gone as well. I have seen a couple GREAT writeups on how to build rock rails where the rockers where. IE inside or flush with the body. This is what I will do. As for the bed, I stripped all the rust off, coated it with a product called RUST BULLET, then a good coat of undercoating. For the outside I used diamond plate, siliconed and riveted to the body panels.
