Our MJs are wired that way so the brake light in the rear gets overridden to blink while braking. Otherwise the person behind ya might not know what youre doing. Now if your front stops blinking while youre braking then there is a problem and could point to a crossed wire. I meant that the brake light gets overridden as it should, but there's no blinking. It just stays off until I deactivate the turn signal. It seems like the turn signal switch itself works, but that's all I can deduce.

I would definitely suggest what Pete said and make sure the right bulbs are installed or arent burnt out. Also clean the grounds if that hasnt been done yet. Something must be making a bad connection.
Pete M
I would definitely start there.
jdog
Sounds like your fuse box has been eaten by brake fluid, I bet if you check for power on the turn signal fuse and the flasher there is none

There's good voltage at the fuse but I only measured about 2 volts at the flasher...
jdog
Gonna have to measure resistance with the fuse out to the flasher

jdog
Ok with the fuse in check for voltage at the flasher but this time wiggle the fuse

I wasn't checking the voltage at the time, but I was wiggling the fuse around when I noticed the flasher started to click. I inspected the connections at the fuse when I noticed half of one of the clips was missing. I put a tiny piece of aluminum foil in the socket as a temporary fix and put the fuse back in. The turn signals work perfectly! Can't believe I overlooked that. That's usually the kind of thing I check for first, too. I'm going to refresh the grounds like you guys suggested for good measure, but first I'm gonna replace that connector before I start a fire... 😅 Thanks everyone!
