WahooSteeler Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I have an exhaust manifold stud broken off, closest to the firewall OF COURSE, and am looking for the size/specs of that part to replace it. Thanks!
MiNi Beast Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 "3/8"-16 into the head, 3/8"-24 under the nut. There are good engineering reasons for doing so, but there's not enough strain to apply in this case. Replace with 3/8"-16 full length, and call it good. That's what I do when I have to replace a stud - usually cut a 2" or so length of 3/8"-16 brass rod and LocTite (#242) the thing in place Replace the nut with a 3/8"-16 UNC piece, and reuse the dished washer (it's important.)"
Parei_doll_ia Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Good luck getting it out. I broke an extractor and ended up spending 6 hours grinding the one by #1 out with a Dremel and then using a helicoil.

I let my son use it as his daily while he's away at school so I can't just park it and keep soaking it in penetrating oil for days.
