Emblem clean up.

i need to put my 4.0 badge back on my tailgate. what's everyone use to get all of the black crap off the back and should i scuff it down or anything to paint it?

I posted a good emblem resto in the DIY a couple years ago. My Comanche emblems came out good, wouldn’t clear coat them again like I did. I just used a flat tool like a screw driver to scrape off all the old sticky and use isopropyl to get any and all the residue that was left and applied new 3m emblem tape.

thats what i assumed i would have to do. did you paint your emblems as well?

Yup! I painted them whole, waited for the paint to dry and used a scotchbrite pad to scrape off the paint on the letters.

I think  I'm going to end up just painting mine black.

Search for "rubber decal remover wheel" on amazon, I used one of them for my Burb debadge, made it super easy...
