Scottybbythesea
Hey gang, what’s everyone running for rear shocks? I noticed bilstein doesn’t make their 5100s for the rear of the Comanche and the Cherokee shocks are not the same. I’m running a 3” skyjacker lift and the only quality shock I can find are Fox 2s which are somewhat pricey. Just looking for a comfortable ride on the street that handles well. Thanks! ghetdjc320
Bilstein makes the 5100 universal series that you can lookup based on distance eye to eye and valving. https://cart.bilsteinus.com/Portals/0/PDF/BILSTEINORCatalog2020_WEB.pdf Page 20 5125 or 5165 custom eye to eye applications. Just measure what you need and select the valving you want
Scottybbythesea
Perfect. Thank you! I’ll look into that.
coolwind57
58484 Monroe Loadleveler shocks. I did have to run to ACE Hardware and buy 4 brass bushings to bring the ID of the shock eyelets to the 5/8" needed. I also had to bend over a gas tank edge with some pliers a little but it was no sweat. I've had them on for a year now and I'm happy with them. If I remember correctly, I have a couple inches of lift.
DesertRat1991
This chart is helpful. You want EYE/EYE shocks for the rear. Measure your distance between upper and lower rear shock mounts with the truck sitting at current ride height. Then, look at collapsed and extended shock lengths in the table below. You want your measurement to fall somewhere in the middle. The distribution of uptravel vs downtravel is your preference.

Scottybbythesea
Thanks again for the help. I went with the custom Bilstein 5125 series from their chart. They recommend a 255/75 valving for the rear of “half size trucks”. With a 3” lift spring my current shocks ride at 22.5” eye to eye and there’s 7” up travel to bump stop which gives a collapsed length of 15.5”. I chose the 33-186542 which has 9.25” total travel, 15” collapsed and 24.3” extended lengths. the front shock is 24-185622. maybe this will help someone else.
