Jacoblopes
OK, so i rear ended a guy and it busted the front of my MJ... so i was curious if a 97/01 Cherokee header panel would work on my 87 Comanche. Anyone?
gogmorgo
It’s a thing people do. Usually it’s called a ‘97+ swap. It’s not a requirement but the 97+ header doesn’t quite match the earlier fenders and bumper, so you likely will want to swap those as well. Dzimm
As stated, it's a partial 97+ swap, a full 97+ swap would be everything including drivetrain and interior. The big differences on the front end is the wiring and the physical shape. The 97+ is more rounded and won't match your existing fenders at all, also the plug is completely different so you'll have to rewire it to get all the lights to work. Your easiest option is to find a 96- XJ/MJ front end to replace it as it's plug and play. RockAuto carries them iirc. If you insist on doing the 97+ front end, although not required I'd highly recommend getting the fenders as well so it matches. There are also a few threads floating around for wiring up the lights. 75sv1
Its just not a lines matching. The bolts positions are different between the years. Also, the headlight adjusters are in a different position. I think they just bind on the brackets. Yes, I'm trying to keep the old header with new fenders.
