myros
Hello everyone, first time posting here. I have a 1986 JEEP COMANCHE 2.5L 150cid L4 and I am replacing the exhaust front pipe. I have found in several places the Walker 44320 pipe but it is marked for 87 to 90 jeep comanches: https://www.amazon.com/Walker-44320-Exhaust-Pipe/dp/B00199L2NA/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=walker+44320&qid=1591445844&s=automotive&sr=1-7 Does anyone know if it would work with an 86 4 cylinder as well? AMC86Kid
Are you able to cut it and weld if needed to make an adjustment on it ?
myros
I think so, I have ordered the part, if it is a total miss i will return it, if is minor adjustments I will try to install it. Will report back once I get the part. Thanks
Eagle
I can't think of a single reason why a down pipe for an '87 wouldn't work in an '86, but the connection to the catalytic converter may be different.
myros
I'm redoing that part too and everything else downstream so I should be able to put those together. I was concerned about the bends at the front. Thanks!
Bryson
Let me know how this works out. I also need that same part replaced on mine. I did the header but that old down pipe is rusted to hell.
AMC86Kid
Paint your exhaust with this It prevents it from rusting i painted my entire exhaust and it’s still rust free even today
myros
Will do, thanks for the tip
myros
I received the new pipe and so far it looks exactly like the one i removed from the car. I have a question with regards to the hole near the top, what is that hole for? and what can I use to plug it? The old one seems to have the hole plugged. myros
I think I found it, I think the hole is for the oxygen sensor port, and I can find an oxygen port plug online or local auto store.
JMO413
Should be 18MM x 1.5 Any decent parts store should have them.
