I am looking at an 88 Comanche long bed 4x4 with the 4.0 later this week. Seller says there is death wobble around 50 and it runs rough when the engine is cold. I currently have a 2000 XJ (which I may be trading for the mj) so I know about the death wobble. But I wanted to know if there was any common issues with the older models and engines compared with the newer. Thanks!

If the owner hasn't ever done Cruisers Renix tune up tips, then chances are it probably could have some electrical issues. But common issues all across the board regardless of Renix engine is grounds.

I would read through his site first then the page Pete posted. It will give you a good perspective.

I have seen cruiser on Cherokee forum, but I haven’t owned a remix era so I didn’t pay much attention. They definitely seem like more work than the newer engines. I haven’t seen it yet and I can’t tell what tear axle it has, hoping it’s not a 35.

it's not only for Renix.  some of Cruiser's tips apply to all MJs (extra grounds for the blower motor and fuel pump for example). :L:
