I finished the 4wd swap and pulled the full gauge cluster to change out the speedometer cable got all the gauges back except the fuel. I think I had the plug for the pump undone (can't recall why). Fuel pump works fine but gauge won't move (needle sitting level under the f mark). Gauge was working before I started all this. Any idea why it suddenly quit?

Go back and check everything you touched first.  You may have forgot to plug something back in or a wire could have come loose in a plug somewhere.

It's always best to go back and check everything you worked on when it stopped working before checking other things.  You'll start introducing other potential issues if you don't back track.

Went back and looked at everything no luck. Is it possible that the sending unit has kicked the bucket? I can run without a gauge but it would be nice to have it working again.

Next step I would use a voltmeter and check continuity down the wires and make sure that there's actually a connection back to your gauge.

I would go the lowbrow route here and unplug the connector right by the fuel tank. Leave it open and see what the gauge (in the truck) does. Then ground the sender wire and see what the gauge does. It should swing through its extreme ranges. If it does the problem is in the sender or wires to the sender. If it doesn't then the problem is in the other end.
