Phillip Gwin
I bought a pair of doors off a 98 Cherokee. It bolts up to the hinges fine, but don't seem to fit exact into the opening. Is there a trick that I don't know about?
eaglescout526
Well the 97-01 doors use a different style hinge than 84-96. Have you tried putting the shims back in if you already didn't use them?
Phillip Gwin
no, the adjustment would go the other way. it appears to be about a quarter of an inch too far back, and the shim (there was only one) would move it back farther.
eaglescout526
What kind of shape are your current hinges in?
Jeep Driver
I have an 88 and a 98, the hinges are exactly the same. I've installed 98 doors on my 88. What no one talks about is what a PITA it is to get the doors adjusted correctly. I rewelded and repinned my hinges. I made new shims from thinner material. I fought them. See my build thread. Phillip Gwin
Hinges are in great shape. how hard is it to get the hinges off? I am just starting this part of the process.
Phillip Gwin
I will be very careful not to cut them up (the jams and striker that is).

Phillip Gwin
I have tried to start a build thread, the problem is all my pictures are too large to post. I have tried to resize them, so far with no luck. I really think you all are going to like this build, I am building a step side bed, and it looks pretty cool so far. Phillip Gwin
Let's see if this one works. I have about 50 good pictures of my progress. Down side is, looks like it needs bigger tires. Edited February 4, 2020 by Phillip Gwin Had more to say.

Phillip Gwin
I just know when I try to download them, it gives me an error, they all seem to be around 4Mb. I have been just taking pictures at the end of the evening when I make progress. These doors are sure impeding that for today.
