Green Mesa XJ
I think that’s the ac condenser . As I remember it’s a small two inch wide and about as long as the radiator Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Green Mesa XJ
Should look about like this if it’s still factory partsSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Dzimm
That's the AC condenser. The factory trans cooler is built into the radiator. Some that had the towing package or similar optioned would have an external trans cooler that was much smaller like Green Mesa XJ posted. Aftermarket trans coolers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and would look similar to that ac condenser but they are also much smaller, often only about 12"x10". AZJeff
I 'think' the OEM trans coolers were mounted low in front of that AC condenser, and had two rubber lines connected to it. At least that is where is was on my 2000XJ. My aftermarket on I put in my MJ runs up and down along the driver's side of the grille (in front of the condenser) and is about 8" wide and 12" tall, give or take.
