Maybe I should of...

Recommended Posts

Maybe I should of not had selected such a shiny material for my temporary winter front. You should have seen the stares I was getting... lmao!

Note:

My truck has yet to have a thermostat installed. It came from the deep south of Nevada. Henderson, NV!

Pop the grill off a put a piece of cardboard in, then put the grill back on...  paint it black first for bonus points.

:dunce:

Yep that is what I did. I need to get my XJ back to being complete before I begin removing parts off of my MJ. I need reliable transportation daily.

I won't be satisfied with that fix for very long. I am one of those guys who watches his gauges, as I drive and even though my truck did not overheat, my temp gauge was at its highest, since I have owned it, with that cardboard in front of the rad. I may decrease the size of that coverage, for the time being.

Can anyone furnish me the exact sizes of the rubber hoses that lead into and out of the thermostat housing. So that I can get replacements, before I remove them. The hose that is in the 11 o'clock position is somewhat ballooned as well as really stuck on the thermostat housing, therefore I would like to replace it.

FYI: it is a stock Renix 4.0 liter motor.

I know all about that, I have only owned my Comanche since April of 2017. And it has been said, that I will change the color of it, from it's original color, under that rustoleum hunter green, to OMG any color under the rainbow. It's original color is a charcoal grey. But look around and you will suddenly see, that any shade of grey, is so damned over used. As a matter of fact, grey is one of the most popular colors in the US.

And I for one, am not a 'cookie cutter - go with the flow' type guy! I love to be different!!!

Next, I decided to remove one inch, along the top edge. And then reinstall.

Success... bravo!

I just came back from a hike up the roadways and my temp gauge never went above 190 and at that time, I actually finally heard the e-fan turn on (1st time ever, hearing it!) At that point, I said to myself, for a 34 year old truck, this lil gem is largely intact :)

And here the big plus, I actually had ample heat in the cab... I was very pleased!!!

I hear ya. Seeing all the durangos, chargers and challengers in the grey color bore me everytime I look at one that is out in the shop.

Exactly! I like green, but I doubt that I will actually use automotive paint. This lil truck is being built to be a Recreational Overlander (meaning) I will never truly be an actual Overland individual, I mean who has the ability of leaving for a month or more, to live off the land, off grid? Only the rich and I damned sure am not independently wealthy.

But as I digress, if I painted it and made it all shiny, that first tree stripe, would really upset me, so it will likely be coated with some sort of resilient application like Monstaliner!

Neat trick. Course I'm kind of impressed that it is cooling that well with no T-stat

That was just a guess. Yesterday, I seen squished out gasket material around the t-stat housing, so that leads me to believe that it does have a t-stat within, but maybe its, just stuck.

This truck sat a lot, hardly driven, by its PO. Maybe it got gunked up, because of that. I won't know until I investigate.
