krustyballer16
Black betty is an 86 and was 2.5. She had the 16 gallon tank. It is now very rusty inside and I'm not wanting to use it. So... Where does everyone suggest I get a new tank from? Any size And,....will the 3 16 gallon tank straps work on a bigger tank? Comparing the 3 straps, they all seem to be different lengths and bent differently. Does anybody know where each strap goes? Save me a headache. Thanks! 500 MJ
Spectra Premium replacement tanks are in both of my MJs. Good tanks! One I bought on RockAuto, the other came from eBay as it had a dent in it, but it was still new. Both tanks got a liberal soaking with brake clean to remove storage grease on the outside, scuff with an abrasive pad and primed and painted before they went into the trucks. Treating me well still on both accounts. Yeah, I would not be using that tank if I were you...
DirtyComanche
Rockauto, Ebay, Amazon, etc sell multiple brands of tanks. They're likely all made in the same factory. I bought a Spectra, seems fine. Rockauto lists the straps too, IIRC. They should be all the same length.
Dzimm
Like stated above, you can get a repro tank a lot of places. If yours is a long bed you can get the larger tank, if it's swb you need to keep the smaller 16 gallon. Strap kits are also available everywhere a tank is and I wouldn't imagine there being a difference is shape/size of those. Just a 2 strap vs 3 strap kit as far as I know.
