Harmonic unbalance

Has anyone else had an issue with the harmonic balancer not being long enough and cutting into the timing chain cover? Model year 1987.

Yep.

 

There is a rubber liner that wears out over time.  The outer ring will start to drift apart from the inner ring.  It will eventually cut the belt and/or the timing cover.  

 

You need to change the harmonic balancer.

I ended up replacing the harmonic balancer. That was the issue. Thanks!
