Battery tray Question

Curious to know what yall have done to remove the battery tray. Drain was stopped up so the nuts are corroded pretty good. Trying to keep tray intact. 

Can you take a flat blade chisel in a air hammer and zip off the heads under neath and push through? 

Or is there a better way.  So far this is the only rust spot under the entire jeep.

I'm trying to remove the alternator from this 92 engine that was installed

If you haven't already, just snap the last one off and get the tray out of the way, you're not likely to get the last nut off cleanly. 

 

Instead of going from underneath, use a punch from the top and pound them down.  Should be easier since you have better leverage. 

 

Clean everything up and tack weld bolts underneath so you have the nuts up top still and only need to work from the top in the future.

You could always try soaking the nuts in something if you don’t want to snap it off. If you are not in a rush to get the job done

Eaglescout526,  I did that soaked in PB blaster for 2 days and they are so corroded that a 12mm is to big.  I got one off. The other is pretty one hine leaving the last one thats a pita..

Dang. Well, snapping it off or putting a good liquid rust remover like vinegar is all I got left for ideas.

Bust'm and get the tray out of the way.

 

Drill and tap for bolts after you grind remnant flush.
