All around mj
A couple years ago, I went to the local yard and looked for a few hours, trying to find n old ford with the Dana 44 and ford 9”. After finding them the yard owner gave me a rattle can and told me to mark the vehicle. I got a call saying they were ready for pickup. What they loaded in the bed of were a Dana 60 and Sterling 10.5” from a 2005 F250 Super Duty. I have a plan for them, but was wondering if anybody here at the CC has done a super duty axle swap? Smokeyyank
It's a common swap with XJ's. All around mj
Thanks for the replies. I will check out the links. I’ve been thinking about the artec truss up front. Still contemplating lift height. Maybe 6-6.5” and 35-37s Ish? When I get the ball rolling I will definitely start a build thread.
Smokeyyank
With tons I'd run 37s+. Up to 40s on tons and you'll be in decent shape with out breaking stuff too often. What are you planning to do suspension wise?
All around mj
Spring over rear, cav fab alpha 4 link, metal cloak or rock Krawler coils, and maybe fox shocks at first.
Smokeyyank
Has cavfab fixed there "issues"? Few NAXJA guys haven't had the best luck with them. Slow to ship, exhaust clearance issues, and a crappy bolt up system. One of the bolts contacts the fuel lines. I do see they increased their link thickness and started using JJ before it was some $#!&ty heims. I'd also consider looking at stinkyfab and ironman, they have some awesome 3/4 link kits. Will be interested to see how everything progresses.
All around mj
Thanks for the input. Right now it’s still a rough idea and things will probably change. I will be working on getting the axles cleaned up soon and go from there. I’m pretty sure on getting the artec truss for the 60, after that I will have to do some measuring and eyeballing. SatiricalHen
I wouldn’t do tons unless you’re running 40s really. Those things will grab every rock with the pumpkin. If your plan is 35-37s stick with smaller axles. I run 35sand almost every jeep I Wheel with is on 35s. On a stock 8.25 and a d30 with stock shafts. I’ve broken a couple shafts, but I also don’t have chromos. With a dana 44 front and rear you could comfortably run 37s without much worry and still have good ground clearance.
