First Comanche pioneer.

Recommended Posts

hey guys. here is my new to me 1988 jeep Comanche. The Comanche in general is new to me but I used to drive a 05 TJ. This one has the I6 4.0 with a 5 speed tranny with 170k. I have just a few initial problems with it that I need some guidance getting resolved. First off I have no turn signals. I replaced the flasher relay and now the 4 ways work and all other lights work but when I actuate the turn signal nothing happens. I am leaning towards the switch itself on the steering column needing to be replaced. Secondly I have a small amount of oil on my air filter. I have replaced both lines coming from the valve cover that connect to the airbox and took it for a quick ride and no oil yet. hopefully that resolved that but with the miles creeping up I am considering an engine rebuild possibly this coming spring. looking to keep this truck a long time and really make it last. Any advice is greatly appreciated! excited to be a part of this forum!

a small amount of oil in the filter just means you own an old Jeep.  nothing to be concerned about. :L:  clearing out the lines is the first step.  if it still does it, you can do a valve cover mod to help keep the oil from splashing up to the vent.

there are several members with over 300k on their engines.  :comanche:

also, here's some good late night reading for ya:
